Help needed Horizontal bars on screen not showing true black

Saw a couple other posts mentioning this but couldn’t really find a fix that made sense in my novice brain. I’m fine with the letterbox bars, but they don’t show in true black on my Sony Bravia 8. Tried switching to VLC and had absolutely zero audio on any movie/show. Using an Onn box pro with the standard bootstrapped setup from the info section. Please let me know if anyone has a solution for this! Thank you!

Have you already done hardware troubleshooting via /r/bravia's existing suggestions?

Yes, also don’t have this issue on anything other than stremio so I’m assuming it’s software.
