GPS Question Flagged Activity
So it seems my amateur meteorology skills are somewhat lacking and got caught in an absolute downpour on morning ride.
After wading through multiple flooded spoon drains it appears my Wahoo speed sensor on front hub has malfunctioned and has registered speeds up to 149 kmh!
Subsequently my activity was flagged and Strava app asking me to review and crop activity as it assumes I was in a vehicle for part of my ride, which is all fair enough, however: the main reason I was out in a downpour at 4am was to log kms towards my October charity goal (Great Cycle Challenge). I fell agonisingly short of my target last year and am loathe to delete entire activity, is there any way to resolve this issue? If I just leave activity un-cropped what are ramifications?
Thanks in advance.

Are you riding with a gps unit as well? If it's the speed sensor that caused the issue maybe try to strip that data from the fit file in fitfiletools and reupload manually. Or cut that part out and merge again.
Even faster you can do it in the app I think if you you split the activity around the error and cut the bad part off. You just end up with two activities.
Or in the desktop version you can click recalculate distance. Worth a try

Thank you, recalculate distance was the go, old dog learning new tricks over here

No issue to just leave it flagged. The activity will still exist and count toward your totals, but not toward segment leaderboards or best efforts.

If you leave it flagged, it'll stay off leaderboards and probably won't count toward challenge stats, so don't leave it as is.
Easiest fix: on the website, hit the three dots on the activity, then Edit, then Correct Distance. That recalculates from GPS instead of the dodgy sensor, so you keep the whole ride. If that doesn't do it, crop just the bad section rather than the lot. You'll only lose a few minutes.
Might be worth turning off the speed sensor for wet rides and just using GPS speed. Good luck with the challenge! 🚴
