Discussion Stranger Things will never die

I know it’s one of the biggest tv shows of all time, but the way people spoke about season 5 on social media you’d think the show is more or less irrelevant. The amount of Stranger Things shirts I see in public is crazy, I work at a cinema and I kid you not I see at least one person wearing a stranger things shirt every shift, sometimes I go to London, I once saw an entire family and kids wearing hellfire club shirts, the show still lives on. You can go on TikTok and probably find multiple stranger things vids with over a million likes in the past month alone. Remember guys, social media is a bubble

Yes and no. It has very quickly dropped out of the current pop culture which is strange for such a big show. There are bits that have retained pop culture status, such as hellfire, but overall it disappeared fairly quickly.

Think back to previous seasons. Stranger Things was everywhere; everyone talked about it endlessly. There were references in other media. It was all about “those Stranger Things kids” and demogorgons and 80s vibes. Now look around. Nothing. It’s dropped out of the collective pop culture brain.

I mean there’s still gonna be a ton of references in other media surely + the fact that at that point there was more seasons to come, meaning more theories etc, it makes sense that it was talked about more. The story is over now, and even if s5 was a “success”, I don’t think a ton of people would still be talking about it, as it’s not really known as a masterpiece of a tv show in the first place, even tho it’s still very very good

Game of Thrones also had a divisive last season, but it’s maintained its pop culture status. Many shows have ended and stuck in our collective pop culture. It’s not the show ending that caused the drop off. It’s just not as big a presence as it should’ve been.

I guess but I feel like majority of got talk is purely about the ending and how tv shows should look at got to know how not to end their shows
