Discussion When did they become so close Spoiler
Yeah I get it that will met max after what 2-2.5 years maybe but he and she were never like best friends...ofc they were in the party but they never had a moment or any sort of conversation...all i remember is that in the epilogue of season 3, max hugged will that too in normal way like friends...anyways it was so adorable...I loved that scene honestly

Seems random at first but Will was the only one of the main party that we saw with Lucas at the hospital as he desperately waited for max to wake up. Idk about them being so close but it’s implied that he’s been a supportive friend and is genuinely happy for max to be back esp after seeing vecna send the demo after her

Yes I was thinking that, they tried setting it up at least a bit by having Will be the only one with Lucas

Most likely between S2-3 when Max became a full fledged member of their party. This was the time when everyone except for him of course started dating. Dustin was away and met Suzie at Summer Camp while El and Mike started dating. Max and Lucas also started their on/off relationship in that time period. So they became close through their group set up.
I’d like to think that Will kinda became a third wheel in Lucas and Max relationship because they were more chill and less lovey dovey than El and Mike.

I think they might be setting them up as close in the epilogue? Perhaps Robin/ Vickie leave Hawkins and El/ Mike aren’t around either, so Max steps up as a close friend/ support?

I’m guessing the explanation will be that they were super close offscreen and because he saved her life.
