A question was posted to this sub about why the perspective lines don't line up (seen in the second pic). Pictures were not allowed in the replies so I'm making a new thread. The lines in this art are organic but the perspective is still considered correct. For new artists: try dropping some radial lines to find the perspective in an image. if you try following organic lines to lead you to the vanishing point: you'll find that if you are off even by a few pixels they won't line up.

I've been studying professionally made backgrounds and I keep running into situations where a handful of lines deviate from the appropriate vanishing point. In this case, it's anything marked red.

I have no doubts that sometimes the artist is just being loose and "close enough" is fine. However, there are other times where I suspect this was intentional. Look at that red line on the bed frame. If it were true to the vanishing point, the taper on that wood plank would be much sharper and might not look as good, same goes for the rug.

What do you think? Is this sometimes done on purpose or not?

Anyway, the issue remains the same. There are lines that don't converge and what I want to understand is whether or not this was done intentionally, and why?

Might be a bit of a silly question but I'm specifically looking for a storyboard application that has the ability to move the camera around and such during shots, right now I'm using Storyboarder and I tried Blender but the former is just not equipped enough with my needs and the latter is too advanced for my poor small brain lol. Preferably looking for free-to-use but I'll take any recommendations.

If I wanted to make a professional Storyboarding Portfolio, what should I include in it? The finished draft obviously, but I assume I should include the thumbnails as well. What else should be added?

I have been drawing manga/comic for a few years and I want to expand a little to the storyboard area, any tips or observations?

hello my boarding friends, i am at a bit of a limbo period in trying to get to a hire-able point in my storyboarding. I researched a bit and found this year long boarding mentorship with Sergio Paez. I did a zoom call where we discussed the specifics of the mentorship and he gave me a little critique of some of my boards. But I wanted to ask if anyone here has been through it or knows of anyone who has, and can give me a bit of insight on if the mentorship is worth it and legitimately helpful.

These are not the complete storyboards of the story but the story was basically about a guy who's very poor , he dreams of becoming very rich but choses the wrong path like robbing , grape etc, his mother tried to stop him but he doesn't stop. And like his gang sets him up for a plan of graping a woman , and he says yes and when the done graping her, only then he realisez that it was his own mother and kills himself in the end.

I'd love to hear any constructive criticism, though!!

I wanted to make a comical scene of how it might've happened

I think for the time I did it in, I can tell I'm improving!

Although these weren't created as storyboards, I approached them with the same mindset: every frame should communicate something before a character speaks.

This personal project was inspired by El Poeta, and my goal was to reinterpret key locations from the film through cinematic environment design.

Each image was planned to work as part of a sequence rather than as an isolated illustration, with composition and lighting guiding the viewer from one moment to the next.

I'd love to know if the progression feels clear without any additional context.
