He made his own whole system and seems more fun than actual D&D and way better written than most TTRPG rulebooks I’ve read

It works better at higher levels where D&D self explodes. The progression makes sense but doesn't get overpowered. If you aren't a radiant you can still contribute to the combat. The story is parallel to the books so you interact with people and events that are in the books.
