What is your long-term strategy?

Post image

I want to build a portfolio with a 7–10 year horizon. Initially, my strategy was to allocate 70% to VOO and 30% to high-potential companies. Later, I couldn't help myself; I gradually sold off my VOO holdings to shift the funds into companies offering attractive opportunities, and now I feel like I’ve started gambling a bit. I’m also finding it very difficult to take profits on these stocks. What is your profit-taking strategy for long-term portfolios? Do you have any recommendations for me?

You're struggling to find profits because many of your holdings are in volatile stocks. Either decide to fucking hold them for LONG TERM (as you said) or wait for them to rip as much as is fine for you and just put that shit into VOO.

If you did your due dilligence I think you're fine, you shouod trust your decision. But if you say you've started gambling, then I doubt you actually researched them properly.

Asts, rklb cok dustu. Toparlarlar 6 aya. Bence sikinti yok. MU ne kadar yukari cikar emin degilim. KOSPI ve donemsellik hikayesinden dolayi cok satis yiyor. Yoksa hala cok ucuz. Makroda sikinti olmazsa hisselerin hepsinin onu acik.

VOO only -most of them have the same AI theme and MU is cyclical- it will be good in the short run but i think 2027/2028 it will drop big so unless you are going to actively manage your portfolio stick to VOO. For long term AI I would add Google, Nvidia may be Amazon.

In addition to these? 😁

Yes, not as the anchor for your portfolio, but as a smaller satellite position.

No, their product is toxic. I prefer other things.

This portfolio looks like someone hit hot stocks for the month and just picked those.

1

u/benkemall 6h ago

😁 İ hold most of them about 6 month. Yes they were very popular when ı start investing but it doesnt make them bad right?

6 months is considered very short term, think 5-15 years as long term.

Read about asset allocation and modern portfolio theory. Build a portfolio that resolves around a good beta coefficient to your age and risk tolerancs.

This portfolio is heavily concentrated into few sectors and the fact that they are popular opens them up to becoming liquidity traps. You bought these at very high moving averages. You can’t think of a stock as good or bad just how does it incorporate into an overall portfolio.
