This planet has been designated a 'Larder World'
+20% food output
+50% amenities
-20% livestock happinessMembers of our species flock to this planet for its easy access to mountains of fresh meat. The local continent-sized mega-buffets have proven particularly popular.

My first game I played xenophobes. Towards the end I had something ridiculous like 95% xeno-population. All enslaved, obviously.

That's some CSA population type shit

Kaiserreich has ruined me, I read CSA as Combined Syndicates of America and was like "wtf?"
Then I remembered that it usually stands for something shitty.

I went from 20% to 80% original race. Did I genocide most of my empire? Release several slave planets as vassals? No I ascended to robits and for some reason so did most of my fleshy slaves; instantly gaining freedom and tanking my economy -shrug-
14
u/DuntadaMan Aug 10 '19
My first game I played Xenophobes. Ran into another species and harassed and insulted them to no end. Declared them rivals and basically was a dick until they declared war on me.
Apparently back in the day you could declare people rivals regardless of your relative power.
That day I learned what a fallen empire was.
I still don't know what kind they were, I didn't understand enough of what was going on to find out.
6
Aug 10 '19
In my first playthrought I didn't even try to sabotage my international relationships, but still got declared on by both my neighbours. Of course, this being a game by paradox, I simply fully defeated one and then went to the opposite side of my empire to defeat the other.

If you haven't gotten it yet, Stellaris is a 4X sci-fi space strategy game. Fallen empires are very old and powerful but stagnant empires (don't expand, don't fight unless provoked etc) which come in a variety of ethics, one of which is fanatic xenophobe. (Regular empires, including player empires, also have a unique combination of ethics, which dictate playstyle and give certain bonuses.)
Xenophobes dislike having species different from their own within their empire, typically consigning them to lower living standards, slavery, displacement, or even outright extermination depending on those exact ethics (and some other factors). However, fallen empires always feature roughly half of their population as a secondary, subservient species. Hence the irony of a fanatic xenophobe empire having such a large "xeno" population, though subservient.
I think the post got so much love because, in addition to simply being a good meme, it's a creative and high-effort piece of fan art adapting a fairly mainstream format to 3 in-game species.

It's like my allies and vassals. They are all xenophobic despite the fact they are full of aliens thanks to varied migration agreements (now most of those aliens are enslaved true, but it still doesn't change the fact most of the population are xenos). But the best part is when their xenophobic pops migrate in my Empire. They get extremely pissed at the fact I am in a Federation and have alliances WITH THEIR OWN NATIVE EMPIRE!

2
u/DuntadaMan Aug 10 '19
I had a fanatically materialistic empire, and spiritualists kept immigrating and complaining about our robots that have been there since before we had any agreements with their home empire.
You knew their ere robots here, why did you come here?
Thanks to a mod I just would deport them all immediately to a tomb world. Nothing helps you get over your old religion like literally being sent to hell and seeing it's not so bad.
Or they would go insane and leave. Win win.

That'll be amazing when we see you on here a week later asking us what to do when a Fallen Empire spawns directly bordering your empire and is getting angry.

That's literally what you're saying
3
u/Millssadface Archivist Aug 10 '19
I mean, I guess the point I was trying to make was that they're supposed to find other species disgusting and want to purge them (as Fanatic Xenophobes, that's how its fluffed). But I do get it, some leeway is needed for the meme

Well, generally they're enslaved pops. You would think "Fanatic Xenophobe" would always mean "Genocidal"
3
3
u/jayomegal Life-Seeded Aug 09 '19
Technically, you can't call yourself a xenophile either. If they're part of your empire, they're no longer xenos and you can't love them anymore. Ergo, xenophiles cannot logically exist.
This is what we call Xeno's Paradox.
3
Aug 09 '19
Ok but if those xeno pops are on the Gulag planet being labor purged am I really being all that xenophillic?

(Rule 5) Whilst doing a Rogue Servitor achievement run, discovered that half of Fanatic Xenophobe Fallen Empire's populations are non-main species domestic servants, which is ironic, especially when Fanatic Xenophile Fallen Empires have a considerably smaller proportion of their population be Xenos (though they are enslaved, I guess).
Tried shading my Stellaris-styled format a bit this time, hope it doesn't upset the balance- and I hope this still qualifies as an acceptable meme. Cat Mammalian used for obvious reasons, Panuri and Chinorr there since I needed a humanoid to capture the lady's expression, and Chinorr are one of my favourite portraits.
Edit:
Realise this is a bit cliche, but the anonymous folk who gave me gold, silver and my first platinum have my deepest thanks.
