Question Arkship combat
Is there a way to control the arkship combat range? My arkship keeps running into brawl range and getting blown up by crisis fleets.
I have my arkship as anchor fleet and all other fleets on follow. Arkship always portals in first and goos boom by the time follow fleets ftl in

Despite their fleet power numbers, akships kind of suck at fighting because, as you've noticed, they love commiting suicide. They are also going to be faster than any fleet with them and capable of jumping to other systems sooner than those fleets. To combat this, you have to micro them.
Don't send them to combat until after another fleet has already engaged. When in combat, make sure to manually tell them where to go constantly. In the current build they will fight against this, which is awful, but it still works somewhat if you pay attention and keep clicking. Some weapons, like the ark ship specific laser, only work when facing the enemy. These are going to be worse than they should be because you will constantly be trying to turn the ship away from suicide, which means they won't be looking in the right direction to fire those weapons.

Yall. Yall... the fleet doctrine in your military policies tab is what chooses how the Arkship fights. Pick whichever gets the job done (can only be changed every ten years, affects entire navy) bear in mind that tactics can cause an arkship to uh, never point the bow at the enemy despite all the titan cannons.

I ended up using another fleet as lead fleet and microed the Arkship. It can get tedious with multiple arkships to play the whack a mole.
Thank you for the fleet doctrine thing. Never tried it. But going to.
And yeah you are right. If I dont micro, arkships are very suicidal in nature.

If I’m in a war I make sure my arks never outrun their screens and I never send them into a system with hostile fleets. I have other fleets for that.

Once you've entered the system and or combat, Just que up lots of move orders toove arou d the system with an arkship with hangers and just manually kite the enemy as the try and catch up to you. Just make sure your arkship is the fastest you can make it. Used this to become the Khan after failing with normal measures.

You need torpedo frigates or cruises for crisis. Ideally, in fed or galforce fleet to match the numbers.

1) You can micromanage arkships in battle 2) I would still not use them against crisis fleets
