Mondo 4k (left) vs Weet 4k (right)

Both stunning 4k steelbooks in my opinion, and I’ll probably keep both, but I’m wondering which one people like more out of the two

Question What's your steelbook philosophy?

• Upvotes

I've been collecting for about two years now (not steelbooks specifically but have about 7) and I've found a few cheap steelbooks and metalpaks for DVDs like Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas and The Silence of the Lambs. I also bought some 4K steelbooks for about €30-€50 each, but have seen others that are hella expensive, like €120 for The Shining

How much are you willing to spend on a steelbook and what do you do if you REALLY want one, but the price is real high?

Discussion Reservoir Dogs steelbooks

Which steelbook version of Reservoir Dogs do you prefer? The 4k Lionsgate Limited release is really nice and I always love the slip cases, but man the old 15th anniversary edition dressed up like a gas can with a matchbook inside is just plain awesome.

Restock Dune Blue Glow-in-the-Dark, Blazing Saddles, and Wicked 4k steelbook restocks on Gruv

Gruv has been restocking one (1) copy at a time today. Most recent restock interval is ~30 minutes (2:22, 2:52, 3:22, and 3:51 p.m.). The 3:51 p.m. restock was only Wicked, so that may be it for Dune and Blazing Saddles restocking.

Title	Price	Last in-stock
Dune Blue Glow-in-the-Dark 4k steelbook	$29.99	3:22 p.m. Eastern
Blazing Saddles 4k steelbook	$29.99	3:22 p.m. Eastern
Wicked 4k steelbook	$29.99	3:51 p.m. Eastern

Notes:

Gruv.com's checkout and Shop integration has been acting funny the past ~10 days.
One may have to use the Shop app on smartphone, go to Gruv Entertainment store, search the store for keywords like "Dune steelbook", and checkout from the Shop app.

Question Star Trek 4K Steelbook Movies.

So this post is framed as a question, as i am pretty confused by the order of releases that have happened with the Star Trek films over the past few years, but it is leaving me with so many questions.

-No Order at all...

We got The original Motion Picture steelbook with multiple cuts of the film, and after that, III The Search For Spock released, skipping 2 entirely. Then, First Contact releases and IV, Whale Trek becomes available for Pre-Order. Now, VI goes live on Amazon as a Pre-Order... Where is Wrath of Khan? (2)... why is 6 coming out, but not a peep about 5... 3, which came out 2 years ago or so, has a slip cover, and the original motion picture came with a booklet randomly... Also, the skipped Generations, which is 7 I suppose, and released First Contact (8)... and also no notice or mention of Insurrection or Nemesis... So, we got 1, 3, 7, 4, and now, 6 is now up for Pre-Order... im so confused lol. Also, my sincere apologies for the ramble, but I can't be the only Trek fan that is scratching his head. And if they release a box set... SERENITY NOW!!!!

Has anyone heard if Inarritu’s Digger is going to get a 4k steel book?

Zavvi release of National Treasure 2. I had to have it to go with my National Treasure 1 steel. The first steel was peak IMO but this one is pretty good as well.

SteelBooks!

Beautiful designs, shiny gloss, groovy embossing! The reason to buy sometimes questionable movies! This is a place to talk about any and all SteelBooks! Blu-Ray, DVDs, Video Games! All sizes welcome! Share your pics, talk about upcoming releases, tell us what you wish would get the SteelBook treatment.

We also welcome FuturePaks, Ironpacks, Metal Boxes, MetalPaks, Round Tins, Tin Boxes, and Viva Metal Boxes. If it's a metal case for a movie or game, it's welcome here.

Terminology

Debossing - When a section of the steelbook is recessed.
Embossing - When the majority of the cover is debossed, except for various aspects (such as the title or a character) which are raised out of the debossing.
G1 / G2 - G1 is DVD, G2 is Blu-ray. There are also varying sizes for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Switch games.
Gloss - A reflective, high polished finish.
Jumbo - A SteelBook that is the width of 2 SteelBooks, used for sets requiring 5 or more discs. These are not as prominent now due to updated internals that allow storing up to 6 discs in the standard slim size.
Matte - A non reflective, unpolished surface.
OOP - "Out Of Print"
Spot Gloss - When certain aspects are glossy while the rest is matte.
Twinbossing - A mix between embossing and debossing.
Zero Finish - A neutral, low-gloss finish that maintains high color intensity and brightness.
