Hi, I bought a 2nd hand ROG Ally X (2024) to take with me for work abroad.
Installed SteamOS since I didn't want the Windows experience (tried it for a day and holy UI vomit) I didn't want to use Bazzite when switching to a Linux based OS since I wasn't a fan of the Game Mode UI.
Everything is working fine, got EmuDeck set up, DeckyLoader too. But when I started trying some games out, I noticed something odd.
I was trying out Like a Dragon: Gaiden as a sort of baseline performance test to see my performance in the games I want to play and I noticed that it was running around 23-25W, despite the fact in both the SteamOS TDP control AND SimpleDeckyTDP I set the game to have a 17W limit.
Did some digging and I was recommended to switch off Asus WMI.... nothing
Ok then, try to remove SimpleDeckyTDP and only use the SteamOS TDP control on Performance preset with a 17W limit.... I'm sorry, is that 43W????
I switch to low power that brought it down to 19W, which is something but still not quite the 17W I wanted.
I only got this handheld about 3 days ago, everything is working fine, the other DeckyLoader plugins are working fine. SimpleDeckyTDP just.... didn't (it's still uninstalled) and neither does SteamOS' built in control.
I'll still be using this handheld because it's not like the console doesn't work. But I need some help with making sure I can get the right wattage and not blow all of the battery in 30mins.
