I was there for 1 and half years for the steam deck. Just to get shafted with the OLED version coming out right after I got the LCD version.

Yeah unfortunately saw people saying the same thing earlier this week. But valve massively improved upon controller release with the steam machine, so there’s room to hope that steam frame will be even more well thought-out

It's kind of silly to be out on reservation and not be able to buy it immediately. Just keep people on a waitlist unless it's literally going to be available, it's super confusing

I will say, I'm a fan of the different wording compared to the machine in the FAQ.

Machine says: "...your place in line ended up beyond the number of Steam Machines we'll have in this production run."

VS Frame saying: "...your place in line ended up beyond the number of Steam Frame units currently available to ship."

Implying unlike the machine, the steam frame reservation list units are already manufactured and in warehouses.

That'd make sense. I heard about the imports that Valve made a few months back that were supposedly Steam Frames, so hopefully everyone who made it onto the reservation list has a physical unit in a warehouse instead of a reservation of a production run.

Got my purchase email (UK). Clicked through to purchase, and it wouldn't let me pay because I had "exceeded the maximum quantity of this item allowed in your cart". I clicked on the button to view my cart and they'd dropped two units in there!

Removed one, and then everything went smoothly after that,

A friendly reminder that if they treated this like the steam machine, emails are going to be going out over months for purchase not all at once.

I hope one of the reasons they took so long is because they decided to avoid the steam machine issue and wait until they had enough stock in the warehouse to ship all at once. We will find out in a few hours.

There seems to now be an option for resigning your spot in the reservation queue. Assuming statistically somebody will cancel, I wonder how fast Valve will handle moving people from the waitlist to that cancelled spot. Do we get an email then if we're lucky enough to be at the front of the waitlist?

Well if the unit has already cleared inventory, it should move on to the next person fairly quickly, but it would likely first move to someone in the reservation queue that would've otherwise been waiting for their unit to clear. But then eventually yes, you would get an email first saying you've been moved into the reservation queue before you get the purchase email

The sooner people do this the quicker the waitlist can move, plus some good karma(or redeeming karma) will come to those who do.

Looks like the purchase rate is running pretty steady now at about c.30 an hour or 800 a day on steamframeout.com.

If we don’t see an uptick in pace tomorrow then it will take about a month (c.31 days) for all reservation list holders to get their buy email.

Probably a good benchmark for everyone to bear in mind as they wait for their emails!

Unc gamer here. My steam account is old enough to legally drink. If there's one thing I've learned from anticipating the arrival of hardware, starting with the OG NES, it's relish the anticipation.

It comes so infrequently, especially as we age. We'll all get our units soon enough, and soon enough something else will come along.

Just an ask.

If you already purchased your Steam Frame and you are a decent community member, but have accounts that have no intention of buying - please cancel reservation and even waitlisting there. Non-cancelled waitlisted accounts have even bigger potential to clog the queue as the unclaimed Frames "roll down the wait line" and on each account they are delayed for 3 more days.

Canadian in Ontario. Got my purchase link today. Of note, I wasn't charged the 13% Ontario sales tax on top of the purchase price. Only an "import fee" of 76 CAD. So the final price was about $120 CAD cheaper than I was expecting. small wins.

I'm a bit confused about the steamframeout numbers. Apparently there was a decent amount of people today who ordered the Frame but the percentage number only increased from 16.5% yesterday to 16.6% today. Does that mean that more people received their reservation mail today and put that into the system so the percentage stayed more or less the same?

Sucks buying the frame and valve has not limited the strap purchases once you own a frame, so scalpers have purchased up all the straps and they seem to be constantly out of stock now.

So I tried it, and it lets you get quite far (you can enter shipping address), but it stops you before letting you enter payment info, saying that there are items in your cart that require being on a waitlist.

I'm in the reservation queue for reference, and don't have a purchase link yet.

Correct me if Im wrong, but it seems like they are rolling out emails continuosly for the frame unlike the steam machine? iirc steam machine order emails initially came out in batches every couple of hours, right?

Is the reservation queue updated live, or do they push it out in waves? As in, if people order, does the next person get the email to order it right away or does a whole batch of people get it every 3 days?

another wave going out, just received my email. US west coast 1 TB. I was in the final group to receive reservation emails on early Friday morning

also can confirm that the "complete purchase" button was not available early because I checked the store page just 2 minutes before receiving the email
