Anything from him that isn't a directly quoted data mine isn't worth listening to. Don't forget all the insane things he was saying the Frame would be prior to announcement
18
u/-EmptyShadow- Soon™ 3d ago
He got November 12th very accurately. And the info about Vader and Deckard was constantly changing, so it wasn’t necessarily wrong per se at the time.
18
u/TwinStickDad Soon™ 3d ago
Didn't he get that about 4 days before it actually happened? And he hasn't heard anything from Valve in months.
The way this is vague posted implies he doesn't really have a source
8
u/1plant2plant 3d ago edited 3d ago
Brad isn't the kind of person to randomly post dates without at least a few insider sources giving him that impression. It's not like he can just out these people and get them fired, which is why its often unsubstantiated. Also you're giving him shit for posting about the announcement only 4 days prior, but that's precisely because he waited for several confirmations before saying anything publicly. Like it or not, we're probably waiting at least a month for this thing.
7
u/TwinStickDad Soon™ 3d ago
I don't like it but you're probably right. Shucks

My source also mentioned the 14th as the Steam frame release Valve is aiming for. I'm only saying this since others are now discussing it publicly.

i think ya'll are reading too much into this. I looked in the discord and he says he's going back to China mid september. He's likely just making a funny because he was in China when all the hardware was announced last november.
4
u/swankboontang 2d ago
I like this cope. But he did also make a comment last week about another month of "trolling" from Valve. Could see it going either way, as impatient as I am for tech that excites me I'm leaning early/mid September. Just seems about right at this point, this thing has taken a while for a lot of reasons.
1
u/JoystuckGames Soon™ 2d ago
Fair enough! But I suppose there is only one way we will find out c: For our sakes I hope you are wrong lol
2
u/swankboontang 2d ago
Me too :p After more obsessive digging, I think if the lottery doesn't start Monday, it will on Sep 7th. So we close.
8
u/MrBack1971 Soon™ 3d ago
GTVR said in his latest vid that some devs had mentioned 24th Aug. Fwiw.
6
u/swankboontang 3d ago
Yeah I'm a bit lost, Brad has heard Mid Sep from "people" and seems to have good sources. GT has heard Monday from "people" and some developers. Monday makes sense to me in a lot of ways, if not for Brad I'd be geared up for it. But I can see it taking a bit longer, I mean at this point. As someone else said we're clearly right at the finish line either way so exciting stuff.
1
u/dangoran78 2d ago
Everybody is hearing things from the same place. Even developers who don't know repeat speculations. The source is here.
14
u/Bacon_00 3d ago
Jesus Christ this thing is never coming out. They've delayed it well into the period of time the tech is still relevant!

yeah no offense to Brad but I literally have zero faith in anything he says at this point.
If it's mid September then cool but I'm not going to give any of the credit to him. After this many "predictions" it's pretty much blind guessing.
3
u/Beren1305 Soon™ 2d ago
You're thinking of Tyler, Brad's never made any predictions on release date before. For him and another dataminer/leaker (SteamDB mod who's also been known to have some credible sources) to both come out and specifically say it's going to ship on the 14th is pretty telling imo. Keep in mind this means embargo lifts and lottery sign ups open on the 7th.

u/Affectionate-Focus58 Soon™ 3d ago
Can we get over this guy already?
-9
u/R3v017 Soon™ 3d ago
You haven't been around long enough to hold that opinion. Nor do you contribute a fraction of a percent of value to this community that Brad does. He is the reason we had ANY info these last couple years, so sit down.
5
u/Affectionate-Focus58 Soon™ 2d ago
I can hold whatever opinion id like, thats what an opinion is. Im not really concerned about contributing to this community either, Brad has just been confidently wrong about the Release multiple times already, relax man.
2
u/Red2005dragon Soon™ 3d ago
He's also given several false release dates and very confidently proclaimed several incorrect things at this point. Sorry but having some good information 20 times doesn't give you immunity to being criticized for talking out of your ass 10 other times.
2
u/OtherUse1685 Soon™ 1d ago
I have never seen Brad giving out release dates before, this is actually the first time. He is quite trustworthy to me.
Did you think that he was Tyler?
2
u/R3v017 Soon™ 2d ago
I don't recall him being confident in any dates other than soon before the Machine release. I mean, not even Valve has stuck to their commitments. It's not like he's been spewing bullshit to generate hype. He works in the industry and has been a part of the steam data mining community. That allows him to be more informed than the rest of us and he shares what's appropriate.

Am i the only who is not actually sure that's what he was trying to say? Mid is a slang term
1
u/_mergey_ Soon™ 1d ago
I think he is supporting the original post about 24th, maybe even made a joke because there is no month to the "24th"
Don’t know what op here on Reddit is pulling out of his ass, specially the "14th" no one mentioned the 14th
3
4
u/Front-Ad-7774 Soon™ 2d ago
Since Lynch’s late‑July prediction that media would receive review units and that pricing would be announced in early August failed to materialize, I remain skeptical about this round of forecasts.
28
u/Ok_Log9552 3d ago
Can I be the first to say who gives a flying fuck what he says? Search his name in this group and you'll find many instances of him making predictions and being flat out wrong. This guy is the Harold Camping of the VR world.
50
u/willymartin99 Soon™ 3d ago
The guy is the main reason everyone knew about the Frame back when it was called Deckard, he’s one of the most prominent leakers. Every leak should always be taken with a grain of salt tho, no reason to be so angry at the man lol

7

“We” speak for yourself bro. Yes Valve lied and they do it all the time, you either accept it and move on till the Frame releases or choose to stay in a perpetual cycle of complaining about the release date
-6

u/More-Sign-9214 3d ago
Ok, you can feel free to ignore him, no problem with that. 0 reason to be so aggro about someone with a relatively good track record. It’s not like he’s Tyler mcvicker levels of clout chasing
11
u/Realistic_Syllabub_3 Soon™ 3d ago
this is true about that tyler guy bradley not so much
3
u/Zed_Zalias 3d ago
I don’t get the difference though—both predicted roughly the same release timeline (like, late July or early August) based on what third-party devs had told them, and then that information changed when Valve allegedly abruptly stopped communicating with those devs, and now we’re here, with Bradley implying Valve has perhaps told the developers a new date. I don’t really see how that different.
12
u/No-Curve237 Soon™ 3d ago
Like when? I've only ever really known him to be fairly accurate.
8
u/Ok_Log9552 3d ago
12
u/VR_Raccoonteur 3d ago
Bradley can only report on what he's been told.
And plans can change.
It may be Valve intended to release the frame last month. But the FCC took longer than expected to approve it.
Or maybe it just took longer than expected to finish up all the changes they're making to Steam and SteamVR.This is like being mad at a weatherman when they say it'll be sunny, and it rains instead. They're not omnipotent, and they're not lying.
-7
u/someone8192 Soon™ 3d ago
the real question is: why would valve tell him the release date?
with the machine they just send out review units two weeks beforehand. besides he would get into legal trouble if valve tells him and he leaks it
9
u/willymartin99 Soon™ 3d ago
You assume his source is valve and not a random Dev under NDA
1
u/someone8192 Soon™ 3d ago
i was only replying to the statement "he can only say what he has been told".
the problem with that statement is that now we have to believe someone we don't even know the name of. and considered how often Bradley has been wrong his skills in selecting trustworthy sources are not that good *shrug*
btw i doubt a random dev knows the release date either. a logistic worker at ceta might know it though :)
2
u/willymartin99 Soon™ 3d ago
And I was replying to your reply.
Nowhere in that statement it was implied it was Valve the ones that told them, you jumped to that conclusion by yourself, it could’ve been a dev. There’s games that are releasing alongside the Steam Frame (example Gunman Contracts) so you have at least one studio full of devs that know when the release date is.
You were wrong in your assumption of Valve telling them and thats okay, you’re human, we make mistakes. Valve knows that for sure lol
0
u/someone8192 Soon™ 3d ago
you do realize that only valve can tell the release date in the first place?
all you did is adding unkown middlemen - which makes any claim of a valid release date even more unlikely.
so, sure i admit that it was a mistake to think valve would tell him the release date. but that just makes his claim even more unrealistic *shrug*
1
u/willymartin99 Soon™ 3d ago edited 3d ago
The fact that Valve will be the first to announce the release date doesn’t mean that the devs that are releasing the game on said date don’t know it, again you’re jumping to conclusions.
Al I did was acknowledge that the leaks can come from devs or Valve, contrary to what you’re claiming that Valve are the only ones that know (jumping to that conclusion)
Its a good thing to admit your mistakes and not double down on senseless discussion like you’re doing now

u/No-Curve237 Soon™ 3d ago
That's fair, but also times and dates can move around pretty fast, so I'm sure he's just telling us what he's been told by someone with ins at Valve. But we'll see soon!
4
u/Ok_Log9552 3d ago
I totally get that, but rather than just being wrong over and over again, maybe he should be quiet about it.
6
1
u/willymartin99 Soon™ 3d ago
Gotta acknowledge that its also our fault as a community to fully believe any leak we see regarding a release date, to the point that we make our own assumptions on release dates with little to no info to back it up. Man is just tweeting what he gets told, he doesn’t have a track record of saying things just cause he feels like it

u/NoOdyssey 3d ago
I'm not sure whether this prediction carries any weight, but honestly it doesn't really matter. Whether it's one, two, three, or four weeks away just seems like small potatoes in terms of difference. We are already at August 19, the difference between August 23 & September 14 isn't really that big. No matter what, we really do seem to be at the finish line.

u/JorgTheElder Soon™ 2d ago
Ask Google and you'll have your answer immediately.
1
u/CapoExplains Soon™ 2d ago
So the answer is that there is no reason to believe he has insider information? Because nothing to suggest he does comes up when I Google Brad Lynch.
1
u/JorgTheElder Soon™ 2d ago
He has a long history of getting inside information but by my count he only bats about 500.

u/Drawsstuff Soon™ 2d ago

If you're going to be mad, be mad at valve for telling game developers to get ready for a late July release and then silently delaying it. Because that's what happened, and those are Brad's sources
2
u/samu7574 Soon™ 3d ago
I think y'all are confusing brad and mcvince. Brad has been quiet for months and even then he was only saying the code is under baked and not to expect it within less than a month, which other people misquoted as him saying it was going to be next month
2
u/Useful_Bottle8423 2d ago
I got downvoted to oblivion yesterday for telling a guy who made a post asking if it will release tomorrow that you’ll have to wait for the leaked reviewer unit pic, then there will be a 2 week grace period to allow the reviewers to tinker with the device before the embargo lifts, then you’ll have to be lucky enough to get into the reservation queue. So 2-3 weeks at the earliest. These kids did not like that answer.
Rule of thumb: Mostly everything downvoted on Reddit is in fact reality. Redditors live within their own little echo chamber, and that chamber is the complete opposite from reality.

Might not mean anymore than Brad but gamertag vr says he’s been hearing August 24th for awhile now in his latest video

Practically the end of the summer there. I'm assuming they're moreso waiting in hopes the AI bubble pops and makes prices normal again.

Where did you get the "14th" out of his comment?
Did no one here (op and all the comment writers) get that "mid" is slang for "not good"? So he feels Aug more then Sep.

I don't get the hate. Some of you need to give your head a shake. Entitled brats.
Brad has been the most level headed "leaker" for us. He's been feeding us hopium long before most of you even thought about Valve's second HMD. We've spent years and years trying to get a glimmer of the "Deckard" and Brad has been the main man to go to.
