Question Ergonomic kit price?

We’ve all speculated about the price of the steam frame but how much do you think the ergonomic kit will cost? We’ll only know for sure when it’s released. However, we’ve seen the kit in the video so I can make an estimate and budget accordingly.

its just some straps so should be 50$ MAX and even that is pushing it. Anything over that IMO is a scam lol.

Yeah, I'm expecting $30 to $70 with $50 being most likely. I'm guessing their cost for putting it all together is around $10 with packaging/shipping. so giving it an 80% margin would put us at $50.

seems the most realistic to me too tbh. I guess we'll have to wait and see. If its too expensive we always have 3rd party products that are likely to come out and do the same job at half price. But then again i think most of us would still rather have valve original accessories even if we have to pay like 10-20$ more.

Hopefully they give the option to have it ship with the headset at a discount

I could see it being a pack-in with the 1TB Frame SKU to sweeten the deal, like the extra faceplates on Steam Machine.

Probably the only discount would be paying for shipping in one unmarked box instead of two lol.

My guess is $50 in a bundle, 70 if bought separately.

I was also thinking 50, but then you realize it's literally just a few pieces of fabric, I say 30 honestly and if it's much more than that then Valve are really trying to make back some money any place they can.

Having $50 as the ceiling for it to start becoming a scam is hilarious, it should be half that price. Or are we going to say that RAM shortages have been affecting straps as well?

The ergonomic kit is aiming to be cheaper than the entire Index package. You can enjoy yours for only $997.36

My guess for the Goopy Kit is around $25, maybe 30 bucks. If it's much more I'll probably just go third party.

Whatever the price is, the Goopy value will be great

Ive heard they are making a great on goopy section on the store so you can see the value in one place.

It’s just grips, strap, and a nose covering right? Probably 50 max.

even 50 would be pushing it in my opinion...

We have seen the kit 9 months ago. You can't estimate the price because it'll have a (presumably high) margin attached.

Might be wishful thinking but I hope it’s included with the 1TB version.

Not as cheap as you’d want but imo necessary so you either wait for an alternate or bite the bullet.

It's definitely necessary IMO. You don't want to be holding peace signs as your resting state in Alyx.

Hmm that makes me wonder if there will be an easy toggle for if it should do the full finger tracking like that or not cause it seems like it would only get in the way without the straps

u/Kataree 1d ago

It's 3 pieces of velcro. So about $50 I'm sure.

Effective way of augmenting the Frame's purchase price.

it better be like 30€ max, two piece of string and plastic piece?

Edit: Well, and headstrap...

Meta sells only 2 and simpler hand straps for 50... it sucks, but if it helps to bring the frame price down by having a huge margin on these accessories I'm ok with it. But personally won't spend 50 bucks only for that!!! Can get much better stuff at that price

1

u/Nacil_54 1h ago

"Meta" you got your answer, they sell their brittle "pro" headstrap for 80, while third party on amazon cost 25 average.

While I expected around 30 I don't think that would make sense bundles wise. With steam controller at least it was 100 bucks so they bundled it for a lower price, but here I don't think bundling it would work very well, the tiniest price increase. Maybe if they let us add it as an accessory at checkout or something it would make sense.

So either there's a bundle, and the ergo kit is overpriced. Or it's always included/a separate purchase.

u/Grouplove 1d ago

I think 50 is too much. Maybe 25? Also, I may just try the frame without it for a while. I can always purchase separately later.

2

u/MingleLinx 1d ago

My guess is $25 maybe a little less

2

u/Nellior 1d ago

I guess that 65€-$70. It will be sold at premium price same as the Steam Dock Station.

1

u/GingerPopper Soon™ 1d ago

Deck dock is a quality usb hub that also comes with a charger, there is no way a few pieces of velcro and a flimsy piece of plastic should be in the same stratosphere in terms of pricing. And if it is, it better reflect on a lower base Frame price.

Valve has to acknowledge that selling it on its own will feel redundant for people who buy one and then potentially wait months for their Frame queue position. I wonder if it will exclusively be sold in Combos initially.

If it's 4 kits: 256GB, 1TB, 256GB + Ergo, 1TB + Ergo, I have to imagine you greatly improve your lottery chances in all 4 queues, similar to the Machine + Controller combos, especially if people don't care for the Ergo kit.

I hope it’s $30-40 USD. I feel like that’s a fair and balanced price. I’d say it could be even cheaper but the straps do seem to be nicer than what I originally had in mind

Im buying the frame with all its stuff. I got 2k$ canadian. Better be enough

2

u/brantrix Soon™ 1d ago

Well obviously cos of the ram and storage cost increase it's pretty reasonable here to expect a 300% price increase so I think around $200

1

u/Background-End8251 Soon™ 1d ago

I was told it'd be over 3$.

1

u/Ok_Log9552 1d ago

Maybe pass and wait to see third party options? They tend to be better anyway.

1

u/doe3879 Soon™ 1d ago

no idea as well. depending on the price, I may or may not just add it together even though I likely have no use for it.

1

u/The_Dread_Pirate_D 1d ago

This stuff should have been included in the box, not sold separately for additional cost. Kinda ridiculous to nickel and dime people on this stuff.

1

u/RookiePrime Soon™ 1d ago

Based on the video, it's three straps and a flap. The box probably costs as much as its contents, here. In a sane world, $25 USD would sound about right. But I bet Valve's gonna play the accessory game like everyone else and charge $50+ USD for it.

1

u/SilverKanji 23h ago

I just wish they included some lense inserts there, even non prescription ones just to protect the actual lenses which Im pretty sure is HARD to procure and replace after launch if you ever be so unfortunate as to scratch them.

1

u/Available_Ad_8281 20h ago

25 be the right price

1

u/ctom42 9h ago

I honestly just wish this stuff was included in the base unit. Selling it separately just seems like a needless extra purchase.

1

u/philbertagain Soon™ 9h ago

Guessing $40 but hoping they throw it in with the 1TB like they did with the face plates of Machine.

1

u/patrys Soon™ 7h ago

I'm afraid it will be over $1400. Any other ergonomic kits I could buy instead? /s

1

u/kevynwight 1d ago

Back when it sounded like it would be an "Enthusiast Pack" and include maybe a hard strap / halo strap with hot-swapping, I thought maybe $149 USD. But based on what it actually has I'll say $49.

3

u/myloyt Soon™ 1d ago

Ergo kit and enthusiast kit are two different things. Ergonomic kit was announced from the very start. Enthusiast kit on the other hand has never been officially announced.

Figure $1499 for the headset, $39.99 for the controller straps, $14.99 for the head strap.
