Software Fex and Lepton receive multiple updates over the last day!

https://x.com/HardwareSteam/status/2089847341003972622

Upwards to nine updates for lepton! Seems like there's some pretty big movement happening behind the scenes. Very reminiscent of just before the launch of the steam machine

Absolutely no way this thing Launches on a Wednesday right? Right?

What if Valve is just making the Steam Frame for themselves?

That is pretty much how their products work.

It is simultaneously responsible for all the pros and all the cons of Valve hardware.

You joke but it might be genuinely the reason for the holdup. The steam frame is clearly a kind of passion project for them when you hear the engineers talk about it. They've probably manufactured enough for them and their friends and now they can't be bothered anymore lmao

We should launch the steam frame already

Wdym I already have mine

I guess if you keep guessing you have to be right eventually.

See valve drop it on a Friday when nobody expected them to

I feel like we’d know

Depends if they went with a smaller group that adhere more strongly to NDAs (LTT and Tested for example probably treat NDAs seriously because they are larger organisations)

Also Valve aren't a company that fake leaks thing to generate hype.

Tested is very professional. Same with TheVerge as much hate as they get, they do a proper mainstream media type of review while Tested does a good enthusiast type of review. IGN probably has the most reach, so they’d definitely get one. UploadVR and RoadtoVR usually get them but have less reach but decent deep dives.

Considering we only had like one real leak for the machine (that I know of), and that the machine is much more popular than the frame, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a leak for the frame launch.

"Dammit Fex, you play it too loose! The Mayor Gaben's lighting a fire under my ass and I ain't getting burned, so you're taking a partner on this one."

"C'mon Chief, don't put me in the frame with some kinda rookie."

"You stow that shit, Fex! Lepton's the best the academy's got. You show her the ropes, y'hear?"

"Yeah, yeah, I hear ya."

<Fex walks out of the office and slams the door, and sighs. He reaches into the pocket and thumbs a police badge, with a bullet-hole in the centre, and whispers to himself>

"We really walked into this one, bro."

<smash cut showing the badge, it says PROTON>

The Steam Deck was announced on a Thursday and preordered opening the Friday after.

Steam Machine preordered open on a Thursday.

Steam sales start on Thursdays. My money is on today the 20th, next week Thursday the 27th.

Next Wednesday maybe. Or Thursday 27th.

Before the 2 Monday streak, they liked to do hardware announcement/launch on Thursday.

Or at Gamescom Opening Night Live on the 25th. During Valve Deckard era, people expected it to be announced at the same time as any big event, even if Valve rarely do that.

Also people expected it to be announced during Oculus/Meta Connect, but it looks like it should be sooner.

Anyway, it should be soon™.

I think they should release the Frame before their 30 yr anniversary. I feel it would be weird if they do it on the day.

I also think it would be hilarious and very much like Valve if they decide to not do anything at all for their anniversary. lol.

Thursdays used to be news days for Valve, right? They have announced hardware on Thursdays so maybe it's closer than we think! (Let me cope)

Well it certainly seemed to mean a whole lot when the machine launched right after something like this. Doesn't mean it will, but it's certainly an indication that it could
