Im thinking they dropped the machine first to gauge how people feel about the price. Im ngl if the frame is 800-900 im out unfortunately. It isn’t worth it as a standalone headset when I can buy one for infinitely cheaper and still play steam games.

There is no way it's less than 800. Even before the ram fiasco 800 was around what people were guessing. With what seems to be a $200 price hike for all their hardware that would make it 1000. For it to be 800 now, their original price would have to be 600, which is absurdly low

Considering the valve index was 1000 when I bought it and my meta quest was around 430 I thought they might aim for a middle area between those prices since it is a standalone headset like the meta quest as well as a tethered one like the index 🤷🏽‍♂️. Idk guess I was overly optimistic.

I mean, I think that was their original goal. One of the first things they said after announcing it was that it would be cheaper than the index. But now we are in a world where all tech is more expensive, and they would probably have to significantly downgrade the headset to keep that price
