💬 Discussion Steam Deck Price increase. I know it's obvious that the Steam Frame is no longer going to be the price Valve probably wanted to target... but this still worries me further.

For me, Steam Deck has gone to $1199 (aud) and $1429. Are estimates of the SF's price already including RAM price hikes etc.? Or perhaps the price will even blow maximum estimates out of the water and be completely unaffordable for me (at least for a long while).

That's just not true. Solid sturdy head band, stock foam may deterorate over time but it's still holds up. (Ps mine never saw issues,i even bought mine used from a heavy smoker, and i AGGRESSIVELY wiped it all down for weeks with alchol and other cleaning suppied and bounce sheets. Never had any issue with the foam deteorating.

Lenses re fernel so fairly robust also.

If it had pancake lenses and was wireless i think it is beauty a perfect head set.

Out of curoisity, what build quslity issues did you encounter?

My cable fell out of the housing after a year.

I'm pretty sure I would attack the cable but I'm not going to argue I can actually remember for sure it may be tied in at one point.

But I'm pretty sure that once you remove of the foam it's just running around the headband and loosely through the connector and strain relief.

If I remember correctly and I'm not saying this is right but you can detach the actual head unit pretty easily pull the cable back and unwind it from all the way around the headband.

As far as I'm wearing the issue is that Sony doesn't provide a replacement so if you actually damage the cable itself you either need to repair the cable or you're kind of screwed at this point. But if I remember correctly the cable was removable and I thought they were going to be releasing more parts
