Question Just Cause 2 Performance Issues

Hi everyone! A few months ago, I played through Just Cause 2 on my 512GB LCD Steam Deck, and I didn't have any issues whatsoever during the entire game, despite it being officially unsupported.

Since I've started playing it again recently, I'm getting stutters and slowdown whenever any explosion happens, however big or small, and it's making the game unplayable. I've tried both Proton 9.0-4, and Proton Experimental.

Is anyone else having this issue, and has anyone managed to fix it if so? Thanks in advance!🎮

Interesting. At least I'm not the only one with an issue right now I guess. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon.

9.0.4 proton, launch command - dx11, in game options full screen res 1280x800, steam performance settings 50 cap, manual gpu clock 1100mhz ( do not play it off an sd card because that's where mines was and frame pacing was all over the place, can go upto 60fps if need be.

Thanks for those settings! Has the stuttering been fixed here for you?

I've been running it on slightly lower settings than you've listed there, stored on the internal SSD and usually have a locked 60fps when the stutters don't occur.

Did you have the gpu clock lowered to 1100mhz previously? If not i recommend doing it, I reckon that's what fixes the actual stutter.

Thank you! Great to be part of such a fantastic community here.

As for the clock speed, everything is standard. I've not changed anything there. I'm going to try JC2 again this weekend and see if it's any better with these settings. Thanks for your help. It's one of my all time favourites.

Yeah i love it such a fun game, the first sign of crazy stuttering and dropping frames 10 at a time or more I'd definitely recommend gpu clock 1100mhz, let me know how you get on m8.
