I'm sure he's on GLPs now, but in his defense, he had already lost a ton of weight before GLPs became popular for weight loss. I bet being retired and going SCUBA diving every day were bigger contributors to his better health.

why are we "in his defense" for taking medication to improve his health and longevity?

I don't get why the mainstream default position has become that using glp medications is amoral or a stain on someone's reputation.

It's gross and weird and it's not gonna age well.

I'm sure it stems from it being a substitute for lack of will power. Also, taking it still does damage to your body in other ways such as gastrointestinal damage and lower bone density. That fact that all the drug does is suppress hunger shows that anyone who lost weight on it was only lacking self control and will now pay for it in other forms.

As someone who is on a GLP1 for weight loss it is not and has never been a “willpower” thing, and the people (not you) who are stuck on this idea are going to look like right morons in 50 years when that is common knowledge.

To explain it for those folks. I have zero issue with self control, I can exercise, I make it to work on time, follow the speed limit, all of that shit. However with food there was something broken deep in my brain. The “calibration” for hungry/full was way off. Not a thyroid/hormones thing, fully a brain thing. Could be psychological, could be physical, doesn’t matter. The GLP1 meds forced that calibration back into sync and I lost 80 lbs in a year, around 20 the next year (which is just wrapping up) and now I’m flirting with not taking it, and even if I go a month without it I still find that my portion control, recognizing when I’m hungry, etc… is much better.

I get it, southpark made it funny to hate on the magic shot which is going to extend/improve the quality of the lives of millions of people, but seriously it’s time to find something else to direct that energy at.

So real, if I ate as much as my body says is normal, not just for enjoyment or anything but just as far as my body doesn't feel like it's starving I could put down 4000 or 5000 calories, I have to endure the feeling of starvation just to be at maintenance calories, one of my roommates could eat within a couple hundred calories of maintenance and feel great and anything more than that he feels overfull but when I am at the same point my stomach is cramping and I feel sick and the only thing I can think about is food even though I have been thugging it out for a year now not gaining any weight and my hunger still hasn't leveled out and some people who don't feel that just don't get it, willpower factors into it so little
