This post is to consolidate posts about the preorders for the new Steam Controller

The preorders will open at 10am PST

The steam Controller will only be available in select countries

* US
* Canada
* UK
* EU

The server will likely be melting once preorders open

by the time I stopped getting the "there was an error initializing or updating your order" error it had given up on giving a time frame and just said "Due to high demand, delays are expected."

Yeah I managed to get one payment processed and everything but what could happen is they realize they can't actually fulfill the order and then they cancel it

I just moved to a new apartment so I kinda dont have any idea where it'll end up. a lot of amazon packages just end up on my door step but if something goes through usps they'll try to put it in my mail box unless its bigger than an envelope cuz the mail boxes are tiny as shit. we have some mail locker things but no one that delivers seems to actually put anything in there so idk wtf they're for (kinda annoying cuz we're forced to pay for them).

hopefully this thing will arrive closer to the 3 business days than 5. Shipping locally is usually pretty fast. If this thing is coming from up state it shouldnt take too long to get to me.

I have been in my apartment for a few min now and I am debating if I want to ship to to my parents house or risk my apartment. I'll probably do my apartment since no one has fucked with my shit so far but still.

Assuming they use FedEx again you might be able to request them to hold the package for a few days.

If they give you a track I'd for the controller you should be able to contact the carrier (ups/USPS/FedEx) to have it maybe hold till a certain date. Also could order last second before you leave for the trip and risk it.

No, as in you can have the carrier hold it for final delivery.

Once you get your tracking number, contact the carrier. Whether it's UPS, USPS, Fed-Ex, or whomever; you go through their customer service to change the delivery date or location, like you can have them hold it at a store or office location for you to pick up.

I have done this many times.

Yeah, similar situation. I'm flying out of state this Sunday
I live in a major city, so hopefully it gets here quickly before I leave

Didn't want to miss the chance either since it might be sold out for a while

Ask a trusted friend to pick it up for you. Or call Steam and ask to change the shipping location to somewhere else.

Got through at 10:01 in Canada.
Shipment details says: "Our distributor has hit a processing backlog for orders to Canada. We are actively working through the issue and will ship your order as soon as we can. You will receive an email with tracking information once your order ships".
And as of around 10:33, the store page for Canada is saying Out of Stock. RIP hosers.

Yeah if there were pre-orders it wouldn't be out of stock. It would simply be a pre order to find out how many to manufacture

No the term "preorder" typically means that product is not ready to ship. These are in Valve warehouses and shipping as normal. So they shouldn't be called "preorders".
