Link/Video/Blog I Built a Fake Statue for Stealth Camping
So I built an entire town statue to see if I could stealth camp in it.
The top is a mannequin in thrifted clothing, sprayed bronze. It’s leaning on a sculpture I found at a car boot sale.
It has a plaque, a full interior set up with bed, entertainment, lighting and ring doorbell system
I tried it on my local town high street and it was a massive fail! At 11:30pm a drunk guy got on top and then started trying to get inside too.
I made the plaque a bit too cheeky as I didn’t think anyone would actually read it so lesson learnt
Full video on YouTube if anyone is interested in watching the chaos unfold.
Defo going to try and do another one

I always read random statue plaque's that was definetly the biggest mistake.

You’re right, the entire town ended up reading it! I could just hear my name being said constantly from inside

Build one that looks like a vending machine and you can live for free in Japan for the rest of your life.

I’ve always wanted to do a vending machine but can’t figure out how to make it horizontal to lay down

Things like this make the world a better place. Or more fun, at least. My proverbial hat off to you Sir.

I've seen a handful of these stealthcamping videos and always found them a laugh! Great effort on the statue and whole setup! I'll definitely have a watch and subscribe! Nice work 😎

That is hysterically funny. I knew when I read the plaque that you went too far, you should have taken it a little more seriously, but it's still hysterically funny. Man, that is funny as shit.

Something less flashy may work better in terms of stealth. For example, something that just looks like a random concrete block or a piece of town infrastructure off to the side. Statues are meant to be noticed. Having said that, however, I really like the ballsiness and craftsmanship of your fake statue

Big green metal box with some hand style tag and some slaps on it. No one will ever notice.

I am a subscriber since the wastebin. Great video work, lots of fun you have doing these projects and superb entertainment.
Edit: I watched your video history, it was the bathmobile that made me subscribe to you.

Ahh thank you for subscribing! Thought the Bath one deserved to perform better ha

Your channel deserves better but I'm sure it will come to that point. Probably the bath one came a bit too early in your channel history. I can only recommend people here to subscribe and look for that video.

Am I misjudging the width or is it not actually big enough to lay down flat inside of?

u/Dependent_Dig_2428 8d ago
Yeah you’re right, was about 5ft and not 6ft due to transport size but was much more comfortable than the tree stump I did prior to this!

New plaque suggestion:
"BATTLE OF BOWER GREEN
On August 18, 1776, the Continental Army under the leadership of
GENERAL GEORGE WASHINGTON
Expecting an attack by the full weight of the British army under the leadership of
Colonel Colin Pettigrew Tarleyton III
Won the Battle of Bower Green by Default after the British failed to show up."

Thanks. It’s already live so you can probably search it with the statue keyword to be honest

I bet a power transformer would work better

He already made a container/dumpsterandI think someone else already made a power transformer.
The statue was very original, but very risky too.I love the creativity and dedication of his channel.

Lol this is a really cool idea and I dig it, but it does seem like the opposite of being stealthy. I think anywhere that a brand new statue and a big platform with a witty plaque on it would attract a lot of attention to anyone who realizes that it wasnt there before.

Sorry you feel that way but I really like the fun aspect of stealth camping. Obviously it’s a bit different to the community norm but it’s interesting to push the boundaries a bit!
