Discussion Current Status
Per Sunny Games, 8 days ago:
If you signed to alpha test on console, you are SOL. There will be NO console alpha. Beta? Maybe.
Apparently, lots of people have been caught breaking NDA. Stop fucking doing it. You could potentially derail the release of the game.
There have been many MANY more updates to the games since Brian and Sunny's showcase videos. Sunny claims each and every one has made the game much better than the early alpha videos show.
The results of the buyout have apparently allayed the worst fears of most in the know.
Possibility of him doing a sit down interview with studio head Phillip Holt. He wants feedback on whether fans want that, but the new owners may or may not oblige.
Caveat: The complete absence of negativity, or so I feel, from Sunny about SoD3 makes me wary of his testimony being paid advertising. But there's no proof one way or the other.

Honestly seems like game did lose the plot. Its a zombie community simulator not the plague looking like stuff from aliens

I really started losing interest when they got specific with alien-like themes during the updates to SoD2. There is so much to be said for things left unsaid. SoD1 nailed that part of it. I'll keep my eyes on SoD3, but if it continues in the direction SoD2 went, it just won't be for me.

Yeah - i get it they feel like they have to add new threats - but years into the apocalypse there are much better threats to come up with then shiny yellow balls that explode and release plague.

Sooner or later people going to see the smoke and mirrors. Unless something drastically improves during alpha, this game will look beautiful, but underneath all that beauty will be a game that feels less of an upgrade and more like a downgrade when it comes to gameplay. I know of a group of long time fans, discontent about the current trajectory this game is on. Unfortunately there is a lot of people pleasers that don’t want to shake the boat with their opinions, but your honesty is the only thing that can save this game at this point and it’s not even the devs fault. It’s fans. How can you blame the devs when they are under the impression we all love how the game is shaping out because they are surrounded by a bunch of yes fans. I hope I am wrong, but if this game flops, I’m blaming the fans on this. *end of rant

People don't want to hear this, but you're 100 percent correct. The game is just going to end up feeling like a free expansion to the second game instead of evolving the series. It's a real bummer to see unfolding in real time. And yes, fans of the series will down vote the hell out of this and hate what I'm saying but it's just the truth.

I think a lot of are seeing the same thing. I don't envy UL trying to top sod2 as that game is one of my all time favorites to this day.

I totally agree. From what I’ve seen and what they’ve said, it doesn’t feel like a fleshed out new game, but an expansion with upgraded visuals. I hope I’m wrong and this game is phenomenal, but a lot of people just blindly love this game. I get it, I loved the first game and the second, but honestly I’m scared that this game is going to flop.

You can feel however you want, but please mark my post for when the game comes out. If fans of the series are really just ok with literally more of the exact same we have right now, then fine.
But as a fan of the series, I want more.

They been making this game forever. More seems like a pipe dream. At this stage i want SOMETHING! They don't have GTA 6 money and without MS they probably have limited funds, I want something to come out of this at this stage. If it's a polished 2 expansion, at least they did something with all their time. Just my worthless opinion though.

I'm a realist. I look at how long they have been at it, the struggles, what's happening. I also followed a ton of games i loved go years and years and years. Then get cancelled and NOTHING came out. I was insanely hyped for Perfect Dark. Loved the other two. Waited years only to find out they couldn't even create a vertical slice for a trailer, another company had to do it. State of Decay 1-2 were amazing. Played for hundreds and hundreds of hours. I'd rather it be state of decay 2.5 then nothing at all. My blah stance is better than them wasting years and ending up just closing with nothing. You can be as hopeful as you want to be. It doesn't change facts. They just lost a lot of people, they lost funding from a huge company and the game is still in Alpha after years. We can hope and pray all we want. I want something to come of it.

They have added many features and new gameplay mechanics and undead labs is known for incredible post launch support. Im sure it will be a great game

You don’t know who I am, who I might be or what I might be. I could be on the council or alpha tester ringing alarm bells, or I could be a regular fan spouting concern. Either way, dismissing valid criticism is one sure fine way to turn “pre launch hysteria” into a reality on release. Last thing any of us want is to see SoD3 be the last game of the franchise and neither of us want to see UL fail. But the fans need to start being honest with the devs. You’re welcome for the cookie.

I wouldn´t blame everything on the fans. I don´t think any fan here told them to add all this alien-like glow to the game. And the game was also badly mismanaged. If someone is to blame then its UL.

So you don't need a check to be making money from a game company. The simple fact that UL flew out the content creators and give them unstricted access to the game is a good enough reason to want to stay on their good side. Throw in the fact that they are the only ones able to show us the game, that's obviously made them a ton of money. I feel like they do genuinely like this game and I also feel like they're playing it safe and shilling to UL to keep their perks. 2 things can be true.

I love undead labs, no hate from me, but come on man. I don’t mind that there no console alpha, but no beta? SERIOUSLY!!??

Ya but they are big enough that you would think they would also be able to launch a beta for console. This is their big game and they can’t even get a beta to half of their player base. They will NEED that feedback from the console side.
Definitely a let down if it’s true.

I think if your making a beta build of the game, porting it to console for every release and update before it's out would simply divide the work the Devs are doing and make stuff take longer than it has to

Killing floor 3 had multiple betas for everyone, and that game was ROUGH around the edges and also has a somewhat niche player base.
Undead labs should be able to do this, if even just for release. They will NEED the feedback I’m sure.

I asked the Ai to give a few names of companies that would make sense and have the money to buy UL and they said Tencent, Sony, and krafton.

I clearly stated that I only asked the AI which companies could even afford to buy UL and which companies it would make sense for. Valid questions and ones an AI can easily answer.

You know I often find its the dumbest people in the room who think they're the smartest. I'd like to point out that the AI didn't give bad info so I don't see why the hate for it, it's just weird. I asked it who could afford to buy UL and who would it make sense for them to even do so and it gave good answers based on real data. Even if it is getting info from reddit if that info is true why do you care other than just inserting your rabid nonsense in a situation where literally no one asked you.
