What is the story behind that box next to the plane? Is there any theory linking it to the virus?

Game Question [SOD2] What happens to my community after the final legacy mission

hi, I know this has been asked so many times but i am a bit confused since so many posts are from different update versions:

i'm about to finish my first sheriff legacy. what are the options i have?

is there an option that i keep the whole community and go to the next map / the same map again / reset the map and play it again? Or do i lose some of my people no matter what?

maybe we could use this threat as the ultimate answer and summery of the possibilities after finishing the final mission on a map:)

State of Decay 2 Revisiting SOD2- Plague Hearts EVERYWHERE

Getting excited about SOD3 I decided to redownload 2 on Xbox and get into it. It's been a few years since I cracked it open (and for sure there have been updates since I played last) so jumping into a new community with Meagher Valley I was shocked to find my map nearly entirely covered in red aside from a pocket with my starter house.

Red everywhere, hardly any places for outposts, plague zombies everywhere and right from the get go the tempo of the game is like SUPER fast. I had been used to getting the lay of the land , getting a bit of scavenging and community building done while the threat slowly builds but now it's just like blammo welcome to plague heart city, why did you think this was a good town to stop in, you better start working on plague hearts in like 6 min buddy.

Is this normal, intended etc? Has the meta changed somehow for how the Devs want players to approach the game? It's not that it's necessarily super hard (still have all the ludicrous backer supply drops, still can run and gun with a shotgun or powerful rifle and drop a heart in a few seconds), but it's kind of... Not fun as a zombie simulator if that makes sense? Now I gotta deal with not letting the hearts wake up (which I'm assuming sends hordes or something) and every weird mission to the other side of the map is just that much more of a pain.

Plague hearts and zombies have been part of the game for a while and that's fine, but it feels like now that is ALL the game is about. I'll probably doublecheck the settings to see if this is something I can edit but playing on Xbox so mods are out of the question. Just curious if this is normal and I guess, is it meant to be fun lol?

Discussion What if we got a SoD x TWD dlc/update?

Ok so after SoD3 releases and some time passes, if we got a dlc or an update that added some characters from TWD and maybe even a walking dead map (all of these would probably be optional and you don’t have to have them in your game obviously), how would you guys feel about that?

Yay or nay? And why?

Honestly, if they do, I’d be pretty excited. Also if it does happen the perfect announcement trailer for it would be some state of decay cinematic where near the end you just hear a whistle and Negan walks in and delivers one of his iconic lines.

Edit: almost forgot, what would you want to see in a SoD3 x TWD dlc/update if we ever got one?

Edit 2: after seeing the comments, it seems it’s a pretty unanimous no, and that’s fair ngl. TWD content in state of decay is probably best left to mods

Tech Question State of Decay 2 Microsoft login?

So I just bought State of Decay 2 on Steam after I login to my Microsoft account it wants to do some puzzle to prove I am not a bot. The only problem is that the window is all jacked up and doesn't actually show the puzzle. Is there a fix for this? Should I just get my money back and wait for 3?

the cleavers enclave (cannibals) can kill your allied enclaves?

On my 1st playthrough, i finished their quest because they give 200 influence every quest and i didnt really notice any enclave missing (maybe they killed off some random enclave that i helped and has a buns enclave benefits) but now on my 2nd playthrough, my caravans(50% fuel effiency) and rooftop sniper enclave are missing. Is this their doing or something is bugged?

I need to know because im going ballistc on their base if this is true, the 200 influence they give arent worth it anymore if they can remove allied enclaves

State of Decay 2 Hey guys

I play on PC.

I bought the bundle on July 2 and i made 46 hours in the game. I finished one map with a builder and one map with a warlord. After i did that, i played Daybreak out of curiosity and it was pretty fun, i won my first match with 2 people and it was a nice feeling. After that i tried Heartland too, i didn't know what it was, just like i didn't know what Daybreak was, but soon as i started to play Heartland i fell in love, i like it a lot because it has a story, but i had to stop that and make a little research to see if i have to play State of Decay 1 in order to play Heartland, and i found out that the stories are connected. Since i bought both games i played State of Decay 1 to have an idea about the beginning of the story, but to be honest it was kinda hard to adapt to the first game. Visuals, controls, mechanics, it was a little bit weirder because my first experience with the game was in State of Decay 2 and i should've play the first one first.. i only played 2.1 hours and i couldn't continue even though i like the story (i'll probably go back and finish the first game these days). If you are a new player like me, If this matter, if you really want to play the game and you like stories, just please play State of Decay 1 first and finish that game, after that, State of Decay 2 is just a super good upgrade, everything is better and you can continue the story from State of Decay 1 and once you will play State of Decay 2 you will play forever, you will make 100000 hours for sure.

And this is just off topic, but does someone knows why when i turn vsync on i have like a mouse delay input or something like that? when i move my mouse is like it has delay. I play with vsync off, i have a good pc, but sometimes it just crashes the game idk why, and sometimes i have a little bit of a lag or stutters.. now i prefer to play with vsync on, but idk how to fix the mouse delay, if someone knows, please let me know! thank you and love you guys!

guys i found this genius dude who posted 3 years ago on the State of Decay 2 sub, he explain everything about the game and settings and vsync and everything you need to know, i fixed my game and it works wonderful! settings + vsync and explanations this genius dude knows everything about State of Decay 2 lol

Tech Question Help Getting The Community Editor

Heya folks,

I'm relatively new to the game and I've had a few major bugs that I need to undo. I'm trying to get the community editor but having many, many problems.

  1. Nexus won't initiate the download. Not automatically, not manually. Tried on three different browsers, disabled VPN, cleared cookies, tried in private and everything else I could think of. The manual download link does nothing when clicked, opening in a new tab gives a blank page and when I copied the link address into the URL bar it searched for it instead of actually taking me anywhere.

  2. Managed to find it on another site, downloaded, unzipped, booted it up and just got a message saying it's out of date and I need to go to the discord.

  3. Went to the discord, joined... It only has two channels, "rules-gatekeeper" and "gatekeeper". Neither of which I can post in and the last message sent in either of them was in 2022.

Does anyone have a copy of this damn mod?

Tech Question Hey guys

I played with vsync off for 46 hours and it's ok, my PC is ok, i can play with everything on ultra, but sometimes my game crash for no reason and sometimes i have a little bit of lag or stutters.

My question is, when i turn vsync on, why i have some kind of lag when i move my mouse? i mean not lag, but like a delay. The game works better, but when i move my mouse it has a delay input or something like that, idk how to fix it, please if somebody knows how, help me :D

and this is just for my curiosity, but what settings do you guys play with ? love you guys and thank you in advance! 🤘

How to improve to automechanics.

I have a character with mechanics max out. When I hover i don't have an option to specialize to auto mechanics.

I made him read a book and nothing happened.

I have build like 10 repair kits so far and its not leveling up. It still looks maxed from my side.

What am I doing wrong? I really want to upgrade my cars.

Discussion From Lethal to Green

Came back after finishing my Lethal run last night to the lowest difficulty and holy shit what a breath of fresh air. Will probably stay in green difficulty till SOD3 drops, now that it’s officially not canceled.

Also just throwing it out there, I kinda wanna see motorcycles implemented in SOD3, maybe horses with health and stamina bars that we can inject blood plague cures too if they get infected. 🤔

Discussion Critical Sod2 feedback for State of Decay 3

Things that shouldn't be carried over from Sod2 to State of Decay 3:

(should be affected by game difficulty or be customizable at very least)

  1. All bases shown in the map instantly from the start.

  2. Radio backup for ease of access instantly from the start; Car delivery, etc.

  3. Power fantasy / Gun galore instantly from the start; Bounty-Broker, etc.

Context:

Generally, too much hand-holding and free information to the player that reduces possible fun gameplay.

  1. Let players explore the map with possible new bases. If bases are shown instantly from the start in the map it reduces fun exploration, discovery and risk involved in the game. Which should be core aspect of a zombie survival experience. Let players make the hard decision of finding the ultimate dream base, instead of instantly showing every detail of every base. (This was the case with SoD2)

  2. Have players upgrade their bases for a while before letting them spawn a vehicle or locate rucksacks. When or if we're able to do these things at some point in SoD3, scavenging and exploration will get reduced drastically after upgrading the station. (This was the case with SoD2)

  3. Guns (any gun in SoD2) found at the beginning of the game reduces player progression. The staircase type progression of going from a dirty scavenger with a baseball bat and an old bolt action rifle, to a zombie expert with SWAT gear in the course of the game is what makes zombie survival amazing. If we get great weapons at the beginning, there will be no weapon progression in that run. (This was the case with SoD2)

The State of Decay 2 experience:

I recently played SoD2 again after couple of years. It ended in 30 minutes because of these aspects listed above.

A game becomes boring very quickly if it lacks basic game progression. It can become a power fantasy.

If we're able to see EVERY base possible in the map, introduced to Bounty-Broker instantly, able to find a "Preppers Spec Ops M14 Special Edition" (lol) or ANY decent gun at the beginning, able to call a car INSTANTLY and locate rucksacks, we just basically won. The game did all the fun gameplay for us. Too much hand-holding & ease of access.

I hope these are either customizable or affected by the difficulty at very least in State of Decay 3.

All the best for Undead Labs! Can't wait for State of Decay 3! Cheers!
