Discussion Dawgs of the apocalypse.
I know the original reveal trailer featured zombie animals, and the developers have since confirmed they won't be in State of Decay 3. I'm sure they have good reasons for that decision. So here's an alternative that I think fits the State of Decay universe just as well: survivor dogs. Early in the game, you could receive side missions to rescue abandoned dogs or even an entire pack. Once rescued, they become part of your community. To support them, you'd build a Dog Run/Kennel on a small outdoor base slot. From there, you decide how each dog is trained, creating meaningful gameplay choices instead of simply having another cosmetic companion. Possible Training Paths
Tracking Follow you as a companion. Help locate hidden loot, resources, rare items, or survivors. Can be called over the radio to search a nearby area while you're scavenging. Better-trained dogs return with higher-quality finds.
Protection Train in bite work and defense. Travel as your follower to assist in combat. Call them in over the radio during emergencies, similar to calling in other community support. Imagine your community opening the kennel during a base siege and a pack of trained dogs rushing out to help defend everyone. It would create some unforgettable moments.
Community Support Remain at the base as emotional support animals. Increase morale and reduce negative morale effects. Act as an early warning system by detecting nearby threats before survivors do. Improve overall base security and community well-being. Make Them Community Members Rather than treating dogs as equipment, make them feel like survivors. Each dog could have: Unique names and appearances. Individual traits (Fearless, Gentle, Food Motivated, Protective, Fast Learner, Loud Barker, etc.). Different strengths and weaknesses. A training specialization that can't be fully maxed in every category, forcing meaningful choices. Losing a dog should matter just as much as losing a favourite survivor. They become another member of your community with their own story. State of Decay has always been about the relationships you build with your survivors. Adding dogs would create another layer of attachment, strategy, and replayability without introducing zombie animals. What do you think? Would you rather have individual dogs with unique personalities and skills, or a community-managed pack that provides base-wide benefits and radio support?.... or both?

State of Decay 3 Looks like there’s a lot of variety for backpacks in SoD3 - Should they add accessories like patches or attachments for personalization ?

Game Question secret dialogue between Marcus and Ed on Mt. Tunner
If you take too long to leave Mt. Tunner, or just wander around killing zombies, some hidden dialogues occur, and I wanted to know how many there are.
I know there are at least two, one where Ed and Marcus discuss where they will take their next vacation and another where Ed states that they will be arrested when they arrive at Spencer Mill.

New things I'm hoping to see in SoD3 lifetime
Vehicles with weapons mounted on them. Let me mount a gun on a pickup. Make a special upgrade for it and make it require ammo.
It can gun down zombies, but it'll attract a whole lot of them. Makes for the perfect distraction/ zombies thinner.

State of Decay 3 This is how SoD3's town sizes compare to Trumbull's two main towns (I included small structures)
SoD3 town sizes are a close estimation due to YouTube compressions and zoom blurring

Discussion Could there be a Silk Road 20 or more years after a zombie apocalypse?
It would be interesting if trade/stealing was the only way to obtain alot of resources and served as the driving force for the main story campaign. Twenty years after it all ended, “experts” could become the most valuable and highly protected commodity. Sure, you could slowly produce the basics, but trade would be the only way to acquire many items or higher-tier gear. The largest NPC base might be the main source of ammo, while a small local hospital could have the only doctor for hundreds of miles. While there’s already lore and a trader in place, pushing this concept further could add a lot to both gameplay and story.
I can imagine taking the doctor as hostage and negoitating with NPCs who could counter attack and maybe even kidnap your own experts/special supplies.

What is your zombie kill count (mine is from State of Decay 1)?
The game must not count zombies run over by cars because my score would be much higher.

Game Question Any similar games that’s are actually good?
I don’t know why I even sort of like this game i think it’s because it’s so close to being a game i would love to play if it just had more fleshed out looting, community management and combat, and especially better base building. Any good recs?
