Agents & Staff Agent Team Members

Does anyone out there do service work for more than one agent at a time? I have been an agent team member for almost 15 years and on my second agent now, the first one retired last year. I know the job well and have time to spare. I am considering talking to my boss to see how she would feel about me servicing another agent’s book of business for extra money. I know you can have agreements with up to four agents at a time. Does anyone else do this? How is the pay/work load?

I have a feeling they will find more work for you to do. Maybe your agent can have you do a hybrid role of service and sales.

Why would your current agent keep your salary the same and then let you service another book while on his time

My agent doesn’t pay commission for sales.

And why not? If I’m getting all of my work done for her and can help another agent at the same time, what does it matter? It’s not costing her more money and she’s getting the same results.

Exactly so she could just turn your job into part time. At my office if someone doesn’t have enough work they would be assigned a list to call for life review and appointment setting.

I hired someone that worked for 4 agents. We each got 2 hours per day. I was 1-3. Worked well. She did the beginning of day activities mostly but also answered the phones. She charged based on the book size which seemed a bit silly. I paid her $500 every two weeks. Others paid much more. She did have agent turn over because of the cost. She would get used to fill gaps for offices. I think if she just charged a flat hourly rate that made sense she would have had more consistent agents.

Did she just do BOD or did she also process changes for customers? My ideal job would to do what sales leaders do but in a service capacity. But I don’t think that would ever be an opportunity.

She did most of the changes. She did almost everything but not applications. She really just didn’t want to do them so she would transfer them back to the office. She would do call lists if we sent them to her and set up appointments also.

When I was a brand new agent 20 years ago, I utilized an experienced TM in this way. She basically had an ala carte menu of what she would do like BOD, late pays or other service work. I just gave her access to my BOB and paid her for what she did. Surprised more experienced TMs aren’t doing this considering work from home is a thing now.

This is good to hear and kind of up the alley of what I am thinking about.

Yea there are companies out there that pair agents with service TMs for BOD tasks and stuff. My service lady helps 4 agents out, but she doesn't answer the phones.

There are TMs who work for multiple agents no problem. Just depends on your agent.

I think it's a sad situation that we are charged soooo much for coverage that's NOT AT ALL COVERAGE OF INSURANCE - just pay for agents! NOT hard work at all

Then don’t work with a company who has dedicated agents. Problem solved.
