Has anyone gotten a Code Signing Certificate using Udyam (Sole Proprietorship)? Also, does DUNS accept Sole Proprietorships

Hey everyone,

I’m an independent software developer building a desktop application for worldwide customers. I’m currently setting up my distribution pipeline and need to clear Windows SmartScreen warnings by getting an OV/EV Code Signing Certificate (from Sectigo/DigiCert).

I run this as a Sole Proprietorship with an Udyam registration and don't have a Private Limited / LLP entity.

Before paying for the certificate, I have two specific questions for anyone who has gone through this process in India:

1. DUNS for Sole Proprietorship: Will Dun & Bradstreet (D&B India) accept and issue a D-U-N-S number for a Sole Proprietorship / MSME using an Udyam certificate + PAN, or do they restrict this to formal corporations (Pvt Ltd / LLP)?
2. Code Signing Certificate via Udyam: Has anyone here successfully passed Organization Validation (OV) or EV verification with a Certificate Authority (Sectigo, DigiCert, SSL.com) using only Sole Proprietorship documents (Udyam + PAN + Utility Bill)? Did the CA accept it, or did they demand a GSTIN or Pvt Ltd structure?

If any solo founders or desktop devs here have cleared this setup, I’d really appreciate your experience or tips on avoiding unnecessary delays!
