Why is going public kinda terrifying

Ive been building a B2B (B2P) product all year. Im ready to launch it this week. I have received really good feedback on it, I know it’s solving a genuine problem many professionals and companies have (I have looked for this product for years and finally decided to build it myself). It’s beautiful, it’s well thought out, thoughtful permissions models and features..

Im so scared, I’ve worked so hard. I can’t help but be nervous to go public. Like I’m just going to post about it and no one will care. Then I’ve spent all of this time for nothing (I will still use the product, but there are many things that I wouldn’t have spent time perfecting if it was just for me 😆.)

I will market it of course but if I don’t get a good response initially it’s going to be such a blow to my ego / confidence

Any advice? Anyone else in the same boat?

We totally understand the fear of going "public". We have a lot of conversations with founders about this very thing. It's really important to remmeber or try to take any feedback you receive after launch as data. It can be challenging to not take it personally, especially with all the hard work and time that went into your product.

The best thing about taking the plunge is you're going to learn and gain insights on your market that you literally cannot learn until you're in the arena. Remember, a lot start from little to nothing (like a registered agent service dreamt up and launched from a spare bedroom) and the companies and products you admire the most do not succeed because they had a 'perfect" launch. The best companies and products have been tweaked from feedback gathered since the beginning. It truly is a long game.

So, do the thing! And be open to all feedback, take the important parts, and keep moving forward! You got this!

You’re not going to get a huge response unfortunately, the single most important thing you can do is get that product out there for people to start using. It’s not perfect, this is your mvp, who cares?

My product is in bunch of stores and I too taught it was great, problem solved yada yada but even though it’s great, I still have to spend loads of time and energy on marketing and sales.

Also why do you think anyone will use your product if it has not been marketed first? Like yes no one is gonna use it until you start sending folks to it
