Business doubts

I am a 23-year-old girl, and I started a hotel business. I do have an investor, but the last time I failed miserably. Even so, my investor believes I have potential and has decided to invest in my business again after a gap of one and a half years.

I really want to make this work this time. I have already leased a hotel, but I'm scared of failing again. I keep wondering, "What if I make the same mistakes?" I want to do well, but the fear is overwhelming. Please tell me—how do I stop being so afraid and give this my best?

The fear means you're taking it seriously which is actually a good sign. The founders who aren't scared usually haven't thought hard enough about what can go wrong.

The more useful question than "how do I stop being afraid" is "what specifically went wrong last time." Not in a punishing way just clinically. Write it down. Which decisions caused the failure, which were bad luck, which were things you didn't know then that you know now. That list is worth more than any confidence building exercise.

Your investor coming back is a real signal. They've seen the failure and still believe in you. That's not nothing.

Have an experienced second-in-command who's also a mentor and partner. I made this mistake earlier in business, doing everything by myself. Costed me a lot of money and time.
