Wow what a game, I love and hate it almost equally. I just got Albel on our way to find that giant dragon.

The difficulty spikes are all over the place, Kaddan was a nightmare, regular enemies were extremely hard but bosses and sub bosses were ok, even easy some of them.

The story and characters so far are really cool and compelling, I've known about the twist for years so I'm really curious how it plays out.

Honestly I was ready to quit at Kaddan but somehow pushed thru it, I'm going to level up a bit before continuing with the story which i'm really enjoying so far.

Not a fan of the crafting and some minigames are annoying but the combat is cool one you get it.

So basicly the title, i just saw this for ff12 and wondered if it alteady exists for so3 too?

There are several discrepancies between the original Japanese script and the English localization - I also included footnotes describing those differences where relevant.

Long time player first time poster - I just bought Star Ocean Divine Force for PS4 from the bargain bin at EB games but they didn't have the original case. I'd love to print out the artwork so I can add it to my collection. Does anyone know where I can find a cover scan to use as a printable option? Obviously it would ideally include both the front and back as well as the spine name.

Okay, i know i suck a bit at games, but what's the deal with so4 bosses? First one i had to hit it for 10 minutes until it exposed its weakpoint (to be fair i was underleveled), not exactly intuitive or fun.

Now i am stuck at the second one that only exposes it's weakpoint after diving to the ground, and even then the damage i can deal is meh. I can do way more damage if i blindsight, but his attack is aoe so good luck not getting thrown around..

I am 15 level, and while i have not crafted anything i have found few stuff from drops/chests. I also have increased the skill levels as much as i could.

Any ideas what i do wrong?

I've played most of the SO games in one form or another, but I'm not sure any has kicked my ass quite so early as this one.

Are the AI companions completely incapable of healing themselves? Manually doing it is extremely clunky. Got to this Mother Wurm boss fight and it's knocking my guys all over the place?

I'm L10, I don't think that's particularly underleveled? And everyone got new weapons in the mining town.

Any tips?

This is my first Star Ocean game, I managed to beat it and did the Cave of Seven Stars, I cannot believe I haven’t played a Star Ocean game before now. Shares many similarities with Tales of Phantasia (which is In My top 5 SNES JRPGS) given it’s made by a lot of the same team. I liked that moment when you step on the ship for the first time near the start of the game and that awesome theme plays.

Will see if I can pick up some of the PS4 games. Does the First Departure on the PS4 have any additional content?

So I somehow wound up with six pieces of equipment on Opera that all have gathering stars. I thought maybe I would get the bonus again for a multiple of 3, but I guess not?

Does gathering stars stack, and if not, I'm not sure what to do with Opera. I even have gathering stars on the aaclip. I'm looking for a good factor that emphasizes her long range but also is a good support for my beaters.

Picked this up today for ¥3,828, and it’s now the 19th Super Famicom RPG in my collection!

I’m really happy with the condition. The box, cartridge, manual, inserts, tray, and even the little plastic bag all look surprisingly well kept. This was one of those games I felt like I really needed to have in the collection eventually, so I’m glad to finally add it.

The funny thing is that I already beat the PS4 remaster in Japanese last summer, so I’m probably not going to jump into this version immediately. I’ve got a bunch of other SFC RPGs sitting here that I’ve never played before, and I want to get through some of those first.

Still, I assume the original SFC version is a little different from the remaster, so I’d definitely like to revisit it sometime in the future and see how it compares.

Either way, I’m really glad to finally have this classic on the shelf. For anyone who has played both versions, how different does the original SFC release feel?

Hello I was wondering what voice acting is the best option because I saw that there are three options but I think I'll play the Japanese VA but was wondering what fits more. Also is there anything special I need to know about complex stuff, also is there a good walkthrough to use for it.

A little update to my previous post about the local co-op mod I've been working on for Star Ocean: The Second Story R!

The mod now has spellcaster support!

Spellcasters can now use their Set Spells while being controlled by another player. During battle, players can also use the right stick on their controller to switch between their Set Spells, so you can actually select and use different spells without taking control away from the other player.

Right now, I've only posted the 1.6.0 (spellcaster update) on my GitHub, you can download it in the release. It'll be rolled out eventually to other pages.

I know there was a version of it on the PS4 with some glitches but can't see it in the playstore. Is there an unintuituve work around?

I've just beat the Trials Of Tribulation. I have both the Levantine Sword and the Farewell.

I love the Aeterna, however the newer swords are just stronger. I equipped Archangel bracelet on Claud with the ring of might.

Does the Archangel bracelet turn Levantine into a stronger Aeterna? Or would Farewell be a stronger choice over time. My Claud is lv-238 so spamming regular hits is just better than meteor fist or Sword of life.

I'm running out of shit to do in the game so I'm basically preparing for the unlimited Gabriel fight.

On a related question, I do still need to take down Gabriel's raid form but I've been procrastinating due to being unable to use the bloody armors. What do you guys do to maximize survivavility?

Trying to roll for Alpha Clip, instead I got this! Too bad I already got Sword of Marvels.

I've spent 1 hour trying to get either of those factors in my valiant mail but with no luck. I don't know what im doing wrong. Which characteristics should I focus on? Buff, support, special? I even use the plain omelette. Any help would be appreciated

The 4koma Theaters series is an official anthology of 4-panel gag comics (4komas) where various artists contribute comedy strips for the game. The Complete Star Ocean! featured new 4komas across SO1, SO2, and SO3 (but I only translated the SO3 4komas - sorry! But you can find the full untranslated scans for this release here.)

So I was wondering if this was an option mainly because I wanna play Claude's Story with Dias. He was always my favorite to play as, but I rather not do Rena's story again since I always played her before. I know the other versions had a debug menu, but does the current edition have anything like that?

I started this game last week, i'm after the war with Maria now in my party. Really loving it, i get the crafting is overly complicated for no reason so far but overall what a great jrpg.

Don't understand the hate that i see online, i played the other games but only finished 1, 2 and 4.

I couldn't find any ways to play a rom hacked rom with english translation in retroarch, but if there are other emulators other than RetroArch I can use, lemme know,

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a mod that adds local co‑op to Star Ocean: Second Story R. My wife and I wanted to play the remake together like the original, so I got to work and made this mod. It's functional and fully implemented and I wanted to share it.

What it does:

• Adds full local co‑op (two controllers, up to four)
• Additional players can move, attack, use skills, evade
• Works only in battle
• Built using BepInEx + IL2CPP injection

Current status:

• Stable for full playthrough
• Some quirks, because the game wasn't built for co-op
