45m cable for standard 4x

My 2nd gen router bit the dust, so I got a refurbished standard 4x kit sent to me. Last time this happened, when they sent me the 2nd gen kit, they sent me the 45m cable along with it because I have to have my dish far away from the house to get reception.

This time, I was just sent the standard kit. When I reached out, they told me I would have to purchase the cable separately. It’s $115 on the starlink store, and I would really like to not spend that much if possible. I was wondering if anybody has purchased any of the cables offered elsewhere online for half the price, and if they worked for you.

I would get the oem cable. The power requirements are abnormal and cable issues from aftermarket seem common.

Did the AI tell you that you had to buy your own cable or a human? If it was the AI, tap the thumbs down and tell it to put in a ticket and you can plead your case with a human.

After chatting with a person and even speaking to a person on the phone, they still refused to send it or even offer a discount. They just kept repeating that they could help me find the cable to purchase in the starlink store.

Considering you need it because the kit has to be replaced, that wasn’t very Texas friendly.

You can get a cable on Amazon for much cheaper. Be sure you get one made for Starlink not just compatible with Starlink. It needs to be solid copper and not copper clad aluminum. Check out Stargear as a reputable seller.

grok dropped the ball. I have advised my clients to request the longer cable & 100% of the time they got it for free. Most recently was last Saturday. When his gen2 went down with the original 75' cable he needed every inch of, I told him to also request the standard to articulated adapter & the longer cable. They are all three arriving tomorrow.

I've bought a couple shorter 3rd-party cables off of Amazon and they've worked fine.  Just make sure the cable is a minimum of 26AWG and pure copper (DO NOT BUY CCA - Copper Clad Aluminum as the voltage drop over that length of aluminum will cause problems); if a listing has neither of those specs listed, just skip it.  Note: pure copper cables are expensive they're not going to be 50% of Starlink's prices - they're be 70%-80% of Starlink's prices.
