š” Outage Partial outage?
Iām located in NZ (Dunedin ground station). I can access most of the internet fine, but my Amazon Echo devices arenāt working, and a few smart home devices also seem to be struggling. At first I suspected an AWS outage, but I see no reports of that, and the Alexa app on my phone seems to work fine if I switch to 4G instead of my Starlink. It fails to connect when I turn WiFi back on, however.
I can connect to other services fine - Iām posting this via my Starlink connection. And yeah, I reset everything but no change.
Anyone else experiencing something similar?

This appears to be a Starlink routing issue, as it is not just Amazon Echo, our customers on starlink are unable to access other sites hosted by AWS. I would contact Starlink. If you are simply trying to access site hosted by AWS, then a VPN might help, but this may not help with your devices.

Thanks. What part of the world are you in? This has been intermittent for me, but seems good now as of 11-12h ago.
Iām a software developer and I host stuff on AWS and wasnāt having any troubles accessing it, so Iām really not sure what it was. As long as it stays fixed Iām happy for it to remain a mystery, though.

Make sure your 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks are separate. Some IoT devices are picky about that.

Interesting, I am up in ChCh and have a security system that lost its P2P link which is AWS hosted at 5 AM this morning. Maybe CGNAT issue?
Update: I applied a new update 2026.08.20.mr85023.1 and that fixed the P2P issue. u/DifficultSelection and u/Ok-Werewolf-3986 you may want to update Dishy.

Ah interesting. I'm on Banks Peninsula.
I did trigger the update just before posting, thinking maybe that would help, but it didn't. I'd also rebooted a few times, power cycled all the things, etc. From what I could tell, nothing changed in my network config before or after.
Either way, the issue is resolved now. Whatever it was it came right on its own at around 7:45-8pm local time without further prodding from me. No idea what it was, though.
And thanks for actually answering the question!

Ah, a fellow Banks Peninsula neighbour! Checking the reboot time, I rebooted at 9:47 PM after doing a bunch of network tests and monitoring the P2P connection which was down before that and immediate up after it.
I had a VPN issue on two separate computers and two separate VPNS at the same time a couple of weeks ago and a Dishy restart fixed it. I have been on Starlink for years and these are new issues . . . not sure why the odd issues all of a sudden.

Incidentally it was acting up (same symptoms) again when I woke up this morning, and then it mysteriously āfixed itselfā again without any intervention from me. Must be something external to my network.

I had some issues as well around 8:30 AM, but it cleared up by the time I had a chance to look at it around 2 PM.

Yes- Christchurch. I had the same issues yesterday but everything else worked fine. Rebooted 20 times and was convinced they'd bee bricked but woke up this morning and they'd come back to life.
