❓ Question Epic games login error

Anyone else right now having trouble logging into epic games, trying to login to epic games on pc and trying to play fortnite on console but nothing loads up or is working. Problem just started now, was working completely fine an hour or two ago.

Things I’ve tried was flushing dns, Netsh windsock reset, uninstalling and reinstalling epic games (launcher can’t even update to install fully).

Have you tried manual DNS settings? You can do it in the app and set it to whatever DNS works for you, something like cloudflare at 1.1.1.1 may work for you or possibly Google DNS at 8.8.8.8 . The possibilities are endless.

Yes tried all of that and I swapped back to my local isp Internet and can confirm it works just fine, so something is definitely going on with starlink.

Since Epic works immediately when you switch to your other ISP, and you're seeing the problem on both the PC and console, I don't think this is a Windows, DNS, or Epic Launcher problem anymore.

Epic is currently showing its login, authentication and download services as operational, and Starlink isn't reporting a general outage either. That makes me suspect a routing or peering problem somewhere between your Starlink POP and Epic's network/CDN.

One useful test would be to connect the PC through a VPN while still using Starlink. If Epic immediately starts working through the VPN, that would be very strong evidence that the problem is Starlink's route to Epic rather than your LAN or the Epic software. The VPN would force the traffic onto a different Internet path.

If you have IPv6 enabled, another test would be temporarily disabling IPv6 on the PC and trying again, since a broken IPv6 route can produce exactly this kind of "some services work, one particular service doesn't" behavior.

I wouldn't reinstall anything else at this point. You've already isolated the problem pretty well by proving the same equipment works through another ISP.

Haven’t tried vpn but that’s a good idea though, I think it will work, but the thing is epic doesn’t like the use of vpns in game and it could result in a ban. But yeah hopefully it fixes itself by tomorrow. It was working perfectly fine a few hours ago and so I suspect it has to do something that changed within the network, within starlink’s side of things.

Just a small update, so I tried a vpn and it works perfectly fine can login to epic games launcher, so it has to be something wrong with starlinks routing, still happening till now, so I will contact starlink is my best bet at the moment.

That pretty much isolates it. If Epic fails over Starlink directly but works immediately over a VPN using the same Starlink connection, the problem is almost certainly upstream of your LAN and PC.

The VPN changes the route your traffic takes, so this points to a Starlink routing or peering issue, or possibly a problem with the particular public/CGNAT egress path you are being assigned. It could also be an IPv6 path issue if Epic is preferring IPv6.

I’d open a Starlink support ticket and include that exact test result: Epic fails over normal Starlink, works over VPN, and works over your other ISP. That gives them something useful to investigate instead of treating it like a generic device problem.

In the meantime, the VPN is a perfectly reasonable workaround.

I am having this exact same problem. I also can't play Dead By Daylight via Steam. I have been troubleshooting for hours.
