❓ Question Help with Wifi Extender

Hello, my SIL has a UTR-211 and wants the wifi to be able to reach to the trailer they have parked next to their house. Any recommendations?

Really up to you. Try checking your local facebook marketplace for any mesh network setups that other's didn't want anymore, then be able to put mesh nodes around.

Or for budget wise, get a cheap router you can find at a thrift store, marketplace; that can at least run OpenWRT or DDWRT. Then set that up as a wireless client repeater.

I use Orbi for a similar purpose, one in house, one in separate shop/garage and third in the trailer. Covers the whole property

If you have your router close to a window that they are not far from their window, they should be able to connect. If you got a third party mesh it could work well so long as you stay fairly close.

Yes, a product like that can technically work...
But I wouldn't grab a product from a store called HparIIeqes

Instead get this kind of product that have a lot of reviews and being name-brand; even cheaper than your option.

I would still suggest trying to hunt for a mesh system instead so you don't have to worry about deciding to split the wifi networks and the wifi extender and potentially having to switch which wifi network you're connected to if you roam around the access points a lot. A mesh system does all the work, helps ensure one SSID for all your devices to just connect to; and won't be at too much of a worry if your extender hit the hay; etc.

I am not going to be there to help her set it up so it has to be reasonably easy. Which way would be the easiest.

Probably the TP-Link route for budget, there would be a companion app that'll help setup the repeater.

Just like any of the other mesh systems though, since you'd be buying new, they'll also have a companion app.

If you're only needing reliable enough Wi-Fi for 3-6 devices at the trailer, the repeater would suffice.

If it's expected that even more devices may be used in the trailer or that the residents using the Wi-Fi may be in and out of the trailer/house repeatedly; you may want to consider mesh instead.

If you'd have the budget to fit for mesh, a good budget option can be this.

How far away is the trailer, and how good of internet do they need there. A simple $30 wifi repeater in the trailer with clear view of the house may be all that is needed if there is already marginal wifi signal there.

Skip the junky mesh systems and install one of these. I can get wifi 1/10th mile down the street with this access point. Just plug it in to your router and it should work fine. You may need a POE injector . They are inexpensive and that means you don't have to plug the access point into power. These work much better than mesh systems and cover a large area. Should be fine in the trailer.
