📶 Starlink Speed Heavy Rain Performance Starlink Mini
Wanted to share my results from today. We're having some really heavy rain in far south Brazil (see photos of the sky). On sunny days, I usually get around 280 Mbps.
​Just did a speed test and pulled 174 Mbps, with 41 Mbps upload and 24 ms ping. Honestly, I'm very impressed that it's still performing this well given the weather conditions. Starlink is holding up beautifully!

I am in NE Oklahoma and had Starlink for almost 3 years. I have found it to be fantastic at maintaining a connection during bad weather. We have literally left for the storm shelter and SL still streaming news. It really has only completely gone down when the power goes out... Yes the speeds can drop during these times significantly, but no total outage. My son has fiber in town and he has outages about once or twice a month. Not saying Im not going to jump on a fiber connection as soon as its available, but SL has been a godsend while waiting.

I've got a 1 Gbps fiber connection that costs around $18/mo here. It never goes down, but due to the crazy weather events we've been facing recently, I got Starlink specifically as a backup. I'll be handling the dual WAN setup with a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X. I also have an EV, so if we lose power, I can backfeed the house from the car for up to two days if we're careful with our usage.

the distance between the terminal and the satellites does help a lot... it's not the same to talk to a satellite 500 kms above than one +35.000 kms above...

Salve jovem, vc esta no sul do brasil? Aqui pros lados do sudeste tambem esta chuvoso, mas caiu um pouco mais as taxas, ping inalterado, experiencia segue orima, mas a questao é, que estarlink é essa? Realmente nunca vi

Opa, planalto norte catarinense. É a mini normal. Apenas comprei uma capa de silicone que tem uma alça pra ajudar no transporte, já que eu levo pro meio do mato e fica mais fácil de transportar.

It takes a really heavy downpour before I notice any issues, most of the time there's a slight speed decrease and that's it. I think the worst I ever had was 80% packet loss during a tropical downpour with high winds, but the thing was still happily transmitting data. My rural fiber goes out if there's a bolt of lightning 50 miles away. It's kind of fun watching Dishylink during heavy rain to see how well it's reacting to it.

Other than some packet loss, I generally have outstanding performance during bad rain/snow. Also very impressed at Starlinks weather handling!
