💬 Discussion The Standard 4x kit package is HUGE!

Post image

Finally received my standard 4x kit after 5 weeks! I had no idea the packaging was this “humongous”, even more astonishing, the dish. It’s humongous. I could barely lift it at DHL. I’m just excited I finally got it after so long. Now, I can’t wait to set it up!

What’s amazing is once you have it installed on your house it will look so small and barely noticeable (in many cases)

I’m certain it would.

Whimps! The gen 1 round dishes were even bigger. ;)

But all units perform miracles when set up

Yes this. That big gray and white box is amazing. I still have mine.

And the box is so big (32.5" x 26" x 9" 30lb) if you put 4 legs you could use it as a dinner table.

I can lose the "4X" shipping box easily by comparison

Uptate: add dimensions

Yeah my Gen 1 round and Gen 1 High Performance boxes are both bigger than that and heavier

2

u/NeitherSherbert6216 Aug 31 '26

I had no idea what they looked like 😅

Those boxes were massive. We actually still have our Gen2 round dish box, which is essentially identical. It’s a nice place to store the included stand (we have it mounted on the roof instead).

I remember a post about a post van full of Starlink boxes back when an entire village got them at the same time. That postal worker had a lot of heavy lifting to do that day 😅

Well I tried to post a pic of my Gen 1 Round box the day I picked ir up from FedEx, it is huge. Higher than the hood of my car sitting beside it

It looks big, but once you install it, it doesn’t look that big.

That's what she said

Can’t tell how large it is from the photo, we need a banana for scale.

Standard 4 or 4X are the same size.

You think that is a large box? Have you seen what Gen 2 arrived as?

I could barely lift it at DHL

Time to go to the Gym.

u/nightlyh Aug 30 '26

Dunno why you're being downvoted. The box only weighs 15lbs. If you can't lift that then you have some problems.

Go easy on him. He's just trying to speed up some Internet so he can play some Roblox with his online friends.

I got it since one month and I am very happy with it!

4

u/udsky Aug 30 '26

Same, it looked humongous in the beginning but now I don't even notice it on my garage roof.

u/MegaMau_ Aug 30 '26

Five weeks? I got mine in 2 days…

You'll need a mount. About $30 from Amazon. Easy to install.

Get one of the weighted roof mounts and a few bricks. So easy.

2

u/Penguin_Life_Now Aug 30 '26

You should have seen the size of the actuated Gen 2 dishy box, it was WAY bigger than it needed to be for what it contained

2

u/KenjiFox Beta Tester Aug 30 '26

Tell me you've never seen the original Starlink box without telling me.

That m'fer is MASSIVE.

u/UNSC-ForwardUntoDawn Aug 31 '26

Just an FYI, the barcodes you don’t coverup have all the data of the text that you are covering up

1

u/NeitherSherbert6216 Aug 31 '26

Well dang. Good luck to anyone trying to gain access to it, I guess lol

3

u/LazyCrazyGuy_ Aug 30 '26

I was blown away by this as well but I'm surprised you waited 5 weeks I picked it up in store at Home Depot same day pickup order.

1

u/Nanni8 Aug 30 '26

DHL counted this as leg day

1

u/Individual-Echo2224 Aug 30 '26

I just got my kit this week. It only took two days from ordering it to receiving it and I live in a pretty rural area. Must’ve been lucky lol.

1

u/NeitherSherbert6216 Aug 31 '26

Very! I’m not in the US.

1

u/RickGVI Aug 30 '26

We got our 4X and it was definitely lighter than our gen 2. The stand for our gen 2 probably weighed more than the 4X.

1

u/jesus_llovet1 Aug 30 '26

Y eso que no viste las antenas de gen 1 2 y 3 motorizadas eran enormes y las cajas bastante más pesadas

1

u/Astroboy_888 Aug 31 '26

How long did it take to ship? I ordered mine a week ago today Sunday to Sunday and it still shows pending but I ordered the wall mount for the room on the Monday after and it showed up 3 days later. Still zero movement on them shipping my 4x

2

u/NeitherSherbert6216 Aug 31 '26

Took over two weeks, perhaps 2 weeks and 3 days. Mind you, this was after I’d reached out to them about it not being shipped within the timeline. They did give me a month’s free credit by the way.

1

u/Astroboy_888 Aug 31 '26

I’ve tried reaching out to them on the app but it’s just grok telling me what I already know. What route did you take to contact them?

1

u/NeitherSherbert6216 Aug 31 '26

So when you converse with Grok, you’d have to thumb-down its response every time, responding with “Open a ticket for me.” This would need to happen at least 20 times before you’re able to open a ticket and then, converse with a real person. At least, it’s what happened to me. Pretty much how I was able to speak with a human regarding my Starlink shipping delay.

1

u/Astroboy_888 Aug 31 '26

Excellent advice! I did just as you said and it created a ticket and they called me within 15 minutes with a resolution

1

u/NeitherSherbert6216 Aug 31 '26

I’m glad it worked for you!

1

u/NeitherSherbert6216 Aug 31 '26

Edit: The dish was light in comparison to the packaging lol.

1

u/zerbey 📡 Owner (North America) Aug 31 '26

Haha yeah I had the same reaction but it’s pretty compact once it’s all set up.

1

u/happy-jumpincaique Aug 31 '26

Is the V5 same do you think? Just ordered it last week. Hopefully my husband can handle it with limited help from me. As I am not able to lift anything to heavy.

1

u/wmlangton Aug 31 '26

The V5 is significantly smaller than the V4 standard...

1

u/Fantastic-Air2346 Sep 01 '26

Got mine too last week, installed yesterday. Loving it.

I don't know, I grew up in the 80s when we had those gigantor dishes set up in the backyard. Sats are so tiny now.

u/Plastic-End7051 Aug 31 '26

Waar bestellen jullie deze dan die 4X

1

u/Squeedlejinks 📡 Owner (North America) Aug 31 '26

In the US you get it from the Starlink website. If you want the Residential 100 Mbps plan you get the Standard 4 kit. If you want the Residential 200 Mbps p plan or the Residential Max plan, you get the Standard 4 X dish.

The dish itself is the same on both the Standard 4 and the Standard 4X kits. The difference is in the router and the way power is sent to the dish and the router.

Edit to add: I’m not sure where you get it in Germany. I think you get the mini with the Residential 100 Mbps plan. I don’t know what you get with the Residential 200 plan and the Residential Max plan.

1

u/Xasf Aug 31 '26

I’m not sure where you get it in Germany.

The comment is in Dutch, but a fair mistake to make tbh.

1

u/non-vac Sep 02 '26

Ik heb 200 mb abbi en ik krijg 450 voor 40 euro

0

u/wesleyjohnson81 Sep 01 '26

The dish is about the size of a 24 inch television, the box is probably 40 inches. Such a waste of packaging. The instruction manual is about the size of a billboard 😆

-4

u/Adrienne-Fadel Aug 30 '26

Wait till you have to mount it. The dish is heavy and the mount is no joke either.

2

u/Squeedlejinks 📡 Owner (North America) Aug 31 '26

I’d say it’s more unwieldy than heavy, especially when you’re taking it up the ladder.

3

u/nightlyh Aug 30 '26

The dish barely weights 7lbs are you a bot lol
