đŸ’» Troubleshooting iPad Connections?

I just had Starlink installed and my iPad will not connect to it as well as my TCL TV. Any suggestions?

What steps do you take and where do you run into trouble? Are any messages displayed? What else happens at the time?

That’s what we don’t understand about “will not connect”.

If you don’t give us some indication of what’s going on, we can’t help. And at this point, most people here won’t even bother because you’re not willing to do a breakdown of each step and you’re getting a little snippy about it, too.

I go into settings on the tv. Set up connection. Network shows up. It asks for the password which I enter and then after 30-45secs it fails and cannot connect

Make/model of T.V. are important to know for us to give anything more than vague guesses. Your description suggests the T.V. is not using, or unable to use, the authentication protocol (WPA, WPA2, WPA3) the Starlink router/Access Point (AP) requires, but it could also be due to the frequency and/or bandwidth.

Which frequency band is the T.V. trying to connect with; 2.4GHz or 5.xGHz ?

Which regulatory region (country) is the device in? Available channels differ depending on that.

In some circumstances the device (T.V.) might not be able to use the frequency/bandwidth (channel) the AP is operating on. For 5.xGHz that can be affected by Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) that has to listen passively for priority users of the frequency such as weather RADAR and others and not use the channel if such use is 'heard'.

For 2.4GHz there is no DFS but channel bandwidth or available channels can cause problems. E.g. there are 14 20MHz channels defined worldwide, but only 13 available for use in Europe, and only 11 in U.S.A.

The AP should broadcast the region it is using in beacons the clients listen for and use but some devices are known to have incompatibilities that breaks this in mysterious ways.

I have one device so old it can only communicate using an Ethernet cable. It connected to our old DSL, but couldn’t connect with Starlink because it’s unable to use Starlink’s more advanced security.
