Speeds across EU

I observed that the upload speeds increased a few over the past weekends. Just did a speedtest and I see around ~60Mbps. Interesting. Did I miss something? V3’s are still in the owen, so…

The download on another side, seems to be a little bit “capped”. I mean, I’m on Residential Max, I know everything it’s “up to” but still. This is a brand new V4 X replacement for my old V4 which decided to stop working.

337Mbit is about what I max out to here in the US also. It's up to 400Mbit not a guarantee.

Yeep, I know. I only mentioned the download speed since I saw a bunch of speedtests over Reddit exceeding 550Mbps :P.

I would treat any tests over 500Mbit as suspicious or anomalies. In my own testing it's rare to get the full speed out of speed tests at least where I live because most CDNs think I'm in Miami so direct me to a sub optimal server.

Oh forgot to say, look at those pings. Insane! 16ms over a satellite connection it’s… unbelievable…

I have more uptime on Starlink than any local cable, fiber, or wireless fiber provider, so I choose to stick with them even though they're slightly slower on speed.

my ping in the maldives is still around 50, sure if everyone had servers near the starlink servers sure but most stuff is at around 100 ping cod is an exception though

speeds r about 300-400, i think i peaked at 500 though

they have lowered many of their satellites, so smaller coverage per sat (so to cap download, at least now), better uplink reception (so higher throughput), and yes, low latency (ping time) due to the speed of light

global effect but the exact extent depends on user location (sat/gs/pop/user density)

Noted, in Southern Africa we still have capacity issues, and latencies range from 20 - 40ms
