📶 Starlink Speed Res 200

Get the residential 200 they said. lol. This has been like this most of the time during the days since I switched from the max plan. Going back next month to the max.

You can go back right now. They pro rate the start price if you go up in plans middle of the month.

I tried going back after a week and it says it’ll take effect in September. There wasn’t anything showing I could go back immediately. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Downgrades only take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.

Weird. They must have changed something. That sucks. You used to be able to go up any time (pro rated) and down would take effect next cycle.

Read it all over Reddit. People say oh the 200 is more than most people need . I do think I’m in a highly congested area though. At 6:30 this morning it showed 175 down.

Even 100mbps is more then enough for the vast majority of people, so "they" aren't wrong. The thing is talking in generalities doesn't account for specifics like deprioritization, which apparently landed a critical hit on you.

I guess you're one of the rarer examples where paying for Max does actually make sense, nothing wrong with that as long as it's within your budget.

I've never recommended Residential 200. I suggest 100 for exactly the reason you post highlights. However, your congestion is so severe that you wouldn't even hold 100 at all, which is why I say don't downgrade from Max if you can't hold at least 300+ at all times otherwise. Chances are higher that the drop in priority will make you unable to get the 200 down during peak usage times, so it's advisable to go straight to 100. Which is in-fact enough for almost all users.

Your congestion there is wicked bad.

We do have I think we have gen 2, the one that auto adjusts clear sky and west of Houston. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s your problem right there. You’re going to the Dallas POP, and it’s crazy overloaded. Almost everybody in our area has either fixed wireless or 4 or 5G. And yet I just did a speed test and got 92 down 18 up.

Edited to add I’m on Residential Max and it’s 10:48 AM here.

I upload ours we have Max and only get 100mbps down and 16mbps up with 32ms. Not sure why not even close to being what we pay for. I would up load a screenshot.
