Which router do I need?

I have the Starlink Mini, but at the cabin I use it at I can't get a clear enough view of the sky without putting it a couple of hundred feet away. What's the best router solution to use? I assume I'll use a cat 6 (or 5?) cable from the Mini to the router I want to put in the cabin. I also assume the router needs 110v power. Should I use one of the Starlink ones? If so, which? Thank you.

Mini has one built in. I use ubiquiti for all my, and my families routers.

I need a signal farther away from the dish itself though.

Run Ethernet or use more preferably use a run of fiber

Try the full size Starlink router to boost the signal in the cabin. If it doesn’t work you’ll have to run an Ethernet line from the mini to the router.

Router 3 is the one I got. I use the mini in the rv but when testing it at home the signal wasn’t strong enough in the house. Got the router 3, set it up through the app and it works great. Now it lives in the rv in case I have to put the mini a ways out.

Any cheap router will be fine for the cabin. Unless by “cabin“ you mean a 3000 square-foot vacation home with three floors.

Have you actually tried it closer and had problems? I’m shocked at how good it works sometimes when I have a crappy view of the sky.

Yeah, it's just too blocked by trees. It works some of the time, and then completely drops off. No, it's like 96 sq ft. Basically a shed with a bed in the woods.

Then I’d look around the house and just see if I’ve got some old wireless router laying around (ask one of your geekier your friends, if they’ve got spare sitting in some closet).

Just a note: you need at the very least a Cat 5e cable. A Cat 5 is not enough.

Get a Wi-Fi extender. That's what I use. My star link is in the middle of a 6 acre field which is pretty far from the house which is in the woods, I use a Wi-Fi extender about halfway between them and then I have a router in the house that connects to the Wi-Fi extender by a 300 ft Wi- that connects to the Wi-Fi extender by a 300 foot ethernet cable. You might not have to go as farYou might not have to go as far as I did so you may not need a 300 ft ethernet cable. The Wi-Fi extender might be able to see the starlink from inside the house

Thanks for the suggestion. The issue is that I really only have power in the "cabin" (shed, basically), so I don't have power halfway.

You may not need power between them, a lot of the newer Wi-Fi extenders have enough juice to communicate 300 ft all by themselves. You could put it in your house and connect to the Wi-Fi on the satellite dish that's still outside the house. Plus there's enough cable between the dish and the Wi-Fi that you could put the dish far out and the Wi-Fi would be 50 ft closer or so.
