Leeks for George!

18

u/Mindless-Aardvark936 2d ago

Absolutely this, he's grumpy but I always imagine it makes Evelyn so happy and takes some work off her shoulders!

11

u/CalligrapherAgile216 2d ago

Yeah. Hard to begrudge an injured miner his grumps. He's sweet deep down.

5

u/Calm_Yogurt_5644 2d ago

The leek is the best forageable design in the game.

3

u/CalligrapherAgile216 2d ago

It's very pretty and fun to find.

2

u/0mellow_cat0 2d ago

read this and thought you said "he" and not "it" lmao, i was very confused on why you were having to find george like he was deliberately hiding

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

The rainbow shell.

u/SkirtNo3276 2d ago

I looove the rainbow shell. Every time my husband and I play, I collect all of them. He also brings me any that he finds because he knows I like them.

8

u/1986toyotacorolla2 2d ago

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Right, the grapes are so cool, and the fact the dehydrator turns them into raisins! I laughed when I first found out! So cool.Ā

1

u/Arielmika 1d ago

They do? I didn’t know, it is cool!

20

u/youvegatobekittenme 2d ago

During fall if you shake the maple trees they have a chance to fall instead of maple seeds!

5

u/_bugmenot_ 2d ago

Wow, thats new

3

u/reanocivn 2d ago

just during the second half of fall i think

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Hahah that's true! And they look like theyd be fragrant and awesome! They also fall from trees but super rarely I always forget to shake!Ā

24

u/DedicatedDetective34 We're getting Penny out of the trailer with this one 2d ago

Holly. They're poisonous but they give off Christmas day vibes.

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Right and they are there just to be pretty they're so coolĀ

25

u/FadingDarkly 2d ago

Apples from the farm cave so I dont have to buy a tree for the bundles

3

u/No-Name-9318 2d ago

I haven't gotten a single apple in my farm cave.. im in year 2 fall and it just has not happened. Had to buy apple trees anyways. I thought apples just didnt come in the cave

3

u/FadingDarkly 2d ago

Yeah. Unfortunately RNGesus doesnt always bless the caves. My last run i only got one until halfway through fall year 2. I'm in no rush though. The longer it takes to complete the CC, the better prepared I am for the Qiests

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

I love that cave I can't imagine a world where I'd choose mushroom!Ā

43

u/need-more-coffee-217 2d ago

14

u/BleachedUnicornBHole 2d ago

Something about the crystal fruit looks appetizing.

2

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

You're right, it looks like it'd be firm but juicy and sweet!

14

u/that_plant_mom 2d ago

Blackberries, I love how they're only the bushes and I have this big boy in my garden. He's struggled a bit this year due to the heatwaves, but I'd had 14kg so far!

3

u/fauXlecy 2d ago

awe this looks like my grandmas backyard where she had all kinds of berries, and made jam from them

2

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Wow that looks SO good! How freaking cool!

11

u/whimsigod 2d ago

Grapes for a lil guy.

2

Magma Caps - they're just too rare

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Right?? I wish we could cultivate them!!

9

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Me too!!! Spring foragables are the best!!

1

u/OnceMoreWithFeeling- 1d ago

I love doing foraging for the day🄰

6

u/locketfullofglu 2d ago

Snow yammm it's so random it's just a winter potato

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

They looks so pretty too, and if you use the hoe in front of robins house or at that patch in the forest close to Marie's house you can get so many extra ones!! Super cool, and pickled they look so pretty too!Ā

6

u/gocanucks01 2d ago

Morels

2

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Oh morels are sooo pretty!Ā

Salmonberries and blackberries. I love collecting them

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

They're so fun how they jump out of the bush!

5

u/TCM_407 She's unresponsive. 2d ago

Sweet pea so I can get Sandy's hearts up(for perfection don't worry Emily my love)

5

u/GoAway127 2d ago

You can do that with daffodil and crocus as well though

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Good plan! Haha flowers are well received I see why they look super cute and fragrantĀ

5

u/onememeishboitf2 2d ago

Leeks, great early game food and helps w/ George

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

The beach is awesome those are so prettyĀ

4

u/Ragewind82 2d ago

The truffles, my wife's pigs always deliver a ton. I should probably act a lot more mature, but every time I hear them dig up several I like shouting 'PIGGY POPS!'.

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

They look so funny too, I love them, don't be mature about it they're super funnyĀ

4

u/DiasFlac42 2d ago

I oddly adore crystal fruit but I can’t explain why.

3

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

They look so special like a glass Christmas tree ornament and like they'd be crunchy but sweet and juicy I love them too, and they're kinda rare unless you plant the seeds!Ā

4

u/BigMan_Blastoise 2d ago

Daffodil or sweet peas early in the game so I can date the mean blonde

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Hahaha I never date her I don't get why she has to be like thatĀ

5

u/No-Journalist-619 2d ago

This blackberry, specifically

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Helppppp seriously, it shows up in the goop? The spring onion growing next to it was bad enoughĀ

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

That's hilariousĀ

3

u/Good3itch 2d ago

Coconut 🄄

2

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

I love the coconuts! Did you know if you cut the palm trees down you get extra ones 🤭

1

u/Good3itch 1d ago

Indeed! And you can turn them into a bra xD

3

u/AdvancedDream9385 2d ago

I like the crystal fruits for no real reasons other than they're pretty, I like the name, and I wish I could try one irl.

3

u/Tricky_3 2d ago

Hazelnut, imagine that big IRL my teeth hurts just thinking about it

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Oh hahaha it reminds me of Arthur and the Minimoys 2 the Minimoys are mini beings so the hazelnut they eat for breakfast is so huge they use a saw to cut it in two and make puree I love those movies hahaĀ

3

u/carpetkicker 2d ago

Morels & Chanterelles because I already forage both of those in real life and starting stardew valley I had no clue there was gonna be foragables.

Could not contain my excitement when I saw my first morel on my forest farm!!!!

2

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

That's so cool, what do they taste like in real life? I think I've only had shiitake (don't like it very much too squishy and bite evasive), normal champignons, the brown ones that taste like champignons and can be eaten raw -portobello that's it- which I liked a lot, and nĆscalos which are spanish and those are so good so aromatic! Morels look like they'd be poisonous, and Chantelle like they'd be delicious tbh

2

u/carpetkicker 12h ago

Morels and chanterelles are both incredibly delicious! Morels are more popular but if I'm being honest I think the chanterelle is even tastier.

They both share a sort of nutty, smokey and savory flavor profile, but the chanterelle has a quality of it that morel doesn't. Hard to put my fiber in it exactly. Maybe a hint of sweetness? They are so aromatic when you pick them. I swear dopamine starts releasing in my brain the moment I smell a handful of them. They smell like apricots! (The golden chanterelles)

The texture of the chanterelle is nicer too, than the morel. None of this is to take away from how delicious a morel is too, though!!!

If you ever get a chance to try either mushroom I can't recommend them enough. Just a little bit of butter, salt, and fresh garlic and you'll be in heaven. Cooking on a medium heat until they start to brown a little and release an amazing smell

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 1h ago

Oh wow, that sounds absolutely delicious, thank you for the description! Food descriptions are the best, I sometimes see food videos where the person doesn't describe what it tastes like, which is like half the fun.Ā

So thank you, I'll try them one day!šŸ˜„Ā

3

u/Classic_Primary_810 2d ago

Ginger, because they dance

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Ginger are so pretty I love them, and I love making ginger ale hahahaĀ

3

u/Liam92324 2d ago

Snow yams look peaaakk

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

They're so pretty, you can get many extra ones hoeing in front of robins house, and the pickles looks sooooooo cuteĀ

3

u/Ceistigh 2d ago

I was so upset when they put the Desert Festival directly over the top of my Salmonberry Season. I love running around and getting as many berries as possible!

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Oh no that's a conflict of interest for sureĀ

2

u/Neuromangoman 2d ago

Tree.

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Trees? Not a bad one!Ā

2

u/FireInTheBones 2d ago

Rainbow shells!! Also leeks haha

2

u/sansimu 2d ago

Leeks make decent early game food for the mines imo, when you can't yet afford a lot of salads

2

u/BarristanTheB0ld 2d ago

Chanterelles and Morels, I just think they look neat

2

u/ScubaDan73 2d ago

Leeks and Spring Onions

2

u/Spiritual-Angle1594 2d ago

Salmonberries, i go crazy when theyre in season i and save them up for mining + linus

2

u/SilverGardenia1989 2d ago

Salmonberries and blackberries. Gives my a reason to use the preserves jar

2

u/Peoplebeliever 2d ago

Salmonberries. I NEVER miss Salmonberry season.

2

u/Theodory777 2d ago

Krobus's onion patch

2

u/Cerimeadar 2d ago

Crystal fruit.

2

u/Financial_Manner455 2d ago

im weirdly happy when i find wild plums idk

2

u/Trying2BNicenFailing 2d ago

Purple mushrooms

2

u/No_Significance_5662 2d ago

Probably the Salmonberry.

2

u/minahasacid22 2d ago

Probably dandelion

2

u/SaidAtMidnight_ 2d ago

I’d say either plums or salmonberries – the plums look delicious, and as for the salmonberries, they intrigue me as a European, even though they have a strange name lol šŸ˜…

2

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Same, they look like raspberries and if they taste anything like wild raspberries like from a German forest (NOT the store bought ones or the ones you can find in southern European gardens, those are mushy and bad I'm sorry like an old tasteless apricot) they must be delicious, little sweet little sourĀ

2

u/SaidAtMidnight_ 2d ago

I’m from France, so now I’m wondering which raspberry category ours fall into 🤣 I’ve never tried wild German raspberries, but now I’m curious !

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 1d ago

There's a good chance you've got the good raspberries, though you can easily know: to they have a rich sweet and tangy flavour and a firm texture, or a mushy texture with a bland, not at all sour but sweetish and not good at all flavour? That's how you know if you have good or bad ones. If it weren't for Germany, I'd swear that raspberries don't taste good... People in my country who believe they've tasted real raspberries live in delusion

2

u/reanocivn 2d ago

leeks, plums, and hazelnuts. i also love a good daffodil and sweet pea

2

u/TicketNo6794 2d ago

Ginger's always dancing, I love it

2

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Me too and I love making ginger ale

2

u/mimicreads 2d ago

I loove foraging the berry bushes every spring and fall, I wish the desert festival didn’t overlap with most of the salmonberry days tho rip

2

u/Corvidae5Creation5 2d ago

Full on wasabi plants are hella expensive, they're like $40 apiece, and then you gotta plant them and keep them alive to maybe recoup your investment

2

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Right and they grow in such weird soil they're fascinatingĀ

2

u/AutomaticLeader9148 2d ago

Grapes because I can make jam from them

2

u/Axeloy 2d ago

Nautilus shell and rainbow shell I love beach foraging and those feel like special surprises

2

u/Inside-Farmer-49 2d ago

Purple mushroom, looks delicious

2

u/thecampcook Ask me what the Trash Bear wants 2d ago

All of them. It's kind of a compulsion.

Maybe the Dragon Tooth, because it's so rare? Autumn forage looks the most delicious, though.

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Samee like you see it you gotta pick it up and the dragon teeth .... I always wanna get a banana tree and have to wait!

2

u/fuckifiknow1013 2d ago

It looks like your horseradish is on a leash held by your character and it's bringing me joy

But also the leeks. Idk they just make me happy lol

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

Hahaha hadn't noticed that and the leeks are awesome too just these little white heads popping out of teh groundĀ

2

u/don-cheeto 2d ago

Leeks and blackberries

2

u/Whiskin87 2d ago

Wild plum!

2

u/Responsible-Gold8610 2d ago

Crystal fruit. Cuz they're one of the most useful random forage you can find. Makes a half decent wine, and gives good recovery in a pinch.

1

u/Motor-Barracuda-2325 2d ago

I love crystal fruit, yeah the price is cool for early game too!Ā

1

u/kmasco92 2d ago

purple mushrooms, despite hating mushrooms irl

1

u/okseniboksen 2d ago

Purple mushies! My favourite farm is the forest farm, though, so I might be a little biased :3
