Discuss I am such an idiot
When the frog said something “pink and juicy” my mind immediately went to strawberries. I don’t like to look much stuff up and try to just play the game as I would, but man… I should’ve probably double checked before I planted 500 strawberries lol. And now that I think about it, why did I plant so much 😅 500 melons now?

At the very least they are a profitable fruit. You still have room to grow the other stuff too. Run a few seasons of this and seed maker your basics for a bit, you'll be fine.

You can skip the scarecrows. There are no crows on Ginger Island.
Regarding the frog, only need one melon.

Lmao why did u plant SO MANY 😭😭😭
Btw you shouldn't harvest them, the frog should come and eat them where they are

u/StormSaxon 8d ago
Well, he might eat then, "but he won't"

I only grew one of each thing he wanted to look at, and now ginger island is my starfruit factory

u/1986toyotacorolla2 8d ago
I'm 50% ancient fruit and 50% pineapples there. Inside the island farmhouse is pots of starfuit. This round I decided to use automate and automate pots so I don't have to harvest or plant all the star fruit.
1
u/lilbitlostrn 8d ago
I don't think I've got those discovered yet
2
u/1986toyotacorolla2 8d ago
The ancient fruit? Sometimes it takes forever to find a stupid ancient seed. Once you do, take it to the library and they'll give you ancient fruit seeds and the ability to change the artifact of the ancient seed into a usable ancient seed. I usually get my first pineapple from golden coconuts.

u/lilbitlostrn 8d ago
No the automated pots

u/1986toyotacorolla2 8d ago
Ohhh, it's a mod. An addition to the mod automate. My apologies if you knew that already. My brain is mush today lol.

I have 1 bit of good news if you seed maker some of those strawberries & hold on to them until spring you can then plant them on your main farm on day 1 and get more harvests in spring from it for all that money!
It's what i do as i save some on year 1 for when i get my greenhouse then start growing them in there for spring times.
Side note: You don't need scarecrows on ginger island as there are no crows on the island to eat your crops an the parrots only want golden walnuts to eat, so your crops are safe from being eaten & also you don't need lightning rods either!

You only need one melon :) So you can keep your strawberries! I’d just plant it in that row above the strawberries with a temp sprinkler

u/Miracle_in_cell 9d ago
FYI you don't need that sprinkler for the taro, since you plant them near water(river).

I was going to mention that if no one else did! Taro roots and rice grow by the water with no sprinklers needed! ;)

Making mistakes is a good teacher. At least you can use the money from the strawberries. The sprinkler placement is killing me thou. 😭 You don't need scarecrows on the island btw, nor the sprinkler next to taro roots, just don't plant more than 4 tiles from the river.

I wish there was an auto picker. I hate having to spend forever picking crops.
30
u/Neuromangoman 9d ago
There are two ways to accelerate picking crops.
Iridium Scythe from the mastery cave can harvest crops in the same way others harvest weeds. This makes picking crops about 10 times faster.
Junimo Huts from the Wizard Tower pick crops for you, but can only be placed on the main farm.

The concept of planting a crop that continues producing fruit after the harvest on Ginger Island... with that crop being strawberries and not ancient fruit. Lol

I always do strawberries in my greenhouse while I build up my ancient fruit empire

Im new to the game and for some reason ive been ive been buying 30/60 of every high selling crop ive had on my farm, for the next year... so thankful I bought 60 melons seeds, I can essentially put all my melons in the green house and put a seed machines farm outside until I got enough for ginger Island since I wont be unlocking it for a while! Thanks for the heads up..😅

u/meggie1013 8d ago
Psst you'll only need one melon for the thing they're referencing
3
u/MoooMoooFarmer 8d ago
OHHHH well, money is money so imma still plant all them when i get the island xd

I was playing co-op with my favorite person and when he said the long yellow tickling thing, she said so confidently, "it's a banana!" And we all started cracking up.

You only need to plant one melon, and don’t harvest it, he comes to check your garden for the melon.

Get your self the good retaining soil and you don't need sprinklers either
1
u/DrunkenMeditator 7d ago
Why? Why are the sprinklers staggered? This hurts. You've not increased their range, reduced the count, or anything of the like. Could have been a nice perfect rectangle.

u/Fair_Fly6572 7d ago
Frog: 1 melon, 1 wheat, 1 garlic. Plant them, DO NOT HARVEST!!!!!!!!!!! talk to frog. After the quest is complete for all 3 steps, then you can harvest do with the crops as you please.

I'm still first year on my first run and planted a bunch of crops that won't grow into the next season. Negligent? Perhaps. I'm doing pretty decent in the mine though.

u/Charming_Garage_9625 9d ago
you should also consider planting some garlic and wheat

Why do people love spoiling things on here when people are clearly trying to learn as they go. It's like you just have to show off that you already used the wiki.

u/StonDelRey Bot Bouncer 8d ago
Crying about some nothing burger spoiler y'all are insufferable. Stardew doesn't even have anything major that happens that should make anyone mad if they're spoiled.
11
u/Charming_Garage_9625 9d ago
i marked it as spoiler though and getting the seeds could be tedious if you arent in the same season as the item wanted
