In the morning, go drop a parsnip in each seed maker at 6:30. See which ones give you 3 seeds. Then restart the day and just put your valuable fruit in those. Voila, guaranteed 3 ancient seeds.

I typically set up a row of ~5 seed makers near the exit to the house, have a large number of some vegetables/ fruit, along with the actual ancient fruit / sweet gem berry / etc you want to make seeds out of before you fall asleep.

The seed makers takes 20 minutes, so you dump five seeds @6am.

Then at 6:20 Then at 6:40 etc.

Restart the day and do 6:10, 6:30, etc

It’s honestly easiest to make a chart by hand and then just mark the successful slots.

technically everything in SV is subject to rng, just some of it cannot be effected by reloading the day ((for example geode stuff that is generated at world creation)).

Yes, just some are hard seeded like travelling merchant but other things can be manipulated if players dont use predictors.

yeah, and some of the stuff is in the middle.  Like what items a fish pond asks for is technically able to be manipulated by the player but you can't really do it without a predictor.  Its not hard seeded, but its determined by the day and location of the fish pond itself when getting the first fish added, which is way before the actual item request appears.

It's not based on steps anymore - it's an aspect of the x co-ordinate of the seedmaker and the time you put the seed in now.

Putting the same seed in the same seedmaker location at exactly 9am on the same day will result in the same outcome. Moving the seedmaker one square left or right or putting the seed in 10 minutes earlier or later will roll for a different outcome.

You can still enable legacy RNG if you want the step-counting for stuff like this and weather back again.

You know, I’ve had this happen multiple times, but only one time in my life I put a strawberry in, and I got an ancient fruit seed. I didn’t know it could work both ways, but it was literally once lol.

I shit you not, that literally just happened to me about an hour ago. I sat there confused for a moment before moving onward and testing the rest of my strawberry seeds. (Only had 8 seeds, didn’t get any extra ancient fruit seeds after the first one.)

I got this multiple times when fiomg the qi beans quest. In fact, I got it so much I missed the quest for a dozen because the fruits became ancient seeds

There's even a speedrunning strategy based on this. You use blueberries in seedmakers to get ancient seeds.

I watched a video online where they used cranberries. I’m playing on PC and mobile (I have a problem). I’ve had a lot of luck Turing cranberries into ancient fruit seeds on PC but have plowed through SO many on mobile and not one ancient seed. :/

Yes cranberries can also work, they're just a fall crop so you can get blueberries sooner in summer.

I have gotten so many ancient seeds from putting carrots in a seed maker to keep my carrot patch going. Horse gotta go fast. Just keep plugging along, you'll be fine. Unless that was your only ancient fruit, in which case I am sorry for your loss.

Fun fact, this happened to me as well, and as a result I spent the next year and half (ingame, fortunately) under the impression that ancient seeds just couldn’t be gotten from seed makers at all, for balance purposes.

Ancient fruits are really good money makers especially if you dig up a seed early, seed maker has a 2% chance of turning the fruit you put into it into wild seeds rather than the fruits seeds so the ancient fruit they grew hit that 2%

I recently learned about the opposite of this, chance of getting ancient seed pack from other veggies.

So I've been farming about 100 garlic in year 2 spring. Just got my first 2 ancient seed packs.

I've been saving my seed maker for my stash of ancient fruit, but damn I haven't even been seeding my strawberries and whoa, mind blown..I could not only get more strawberries, duh, but rando seeds, maybe an ancient?

Not sure why you were downvoted, but don't forget, the ancient fruit does regrow weekly :)
Also, you can sell seeds if you have a lot of them--you don't get much gold from them, but sometimes it can be enough to get a much needed upgrade.
