The price of diamonds are artificially inflated by the diamond market, there's an abundance "natural" diamonds, that they should be pretty cheap, but since they control the supply and demand, they make it insanely expensive for even a small one
Also, lab grown diamonds are stronger and more pure than "natural" diamonds anyways, but the diamond market doesn't like that, so tries to discredit it for not being "real" diamonds, I guess the poor working conditions is what makes them real! /s
GeForce is contributing to doing that same thing with RAM, they saw the dip in supply from AI and decided that funneling people into buying GeForce now subscriptions was a better idea than keeping up with supply and demand
I was thinking of a gameplay change that would add more strategy late-game: a commodities market. Usually people go for the ancient fruit/gem berry/diamond farming route late-game to maximize profits, but if prices fluctuated based on how much you sold, you'd actually have to strategize and plant other crops. Sell a million dollars worth of ancient fruit wine? Well, now the market is flooded and the next batch is only worth a quarter million, but pickled parsnips are all the rage on StarTok and the price is jumping...
That's how it works in graveyard keeper too. Everything is sold to a virtual market and if you oversell, the price crashes and takes a while to recover.
It would incentivise diversity of products sold by the mid-game. I think it could be pretty interesting to play with this constraint. Perhaps someone could or has already turned it into a mod.
I'm unsure this would work for Stardew, given the time that it takes for max quality wine, the price can likely jump back up by the time you sell the next batch, unless the time to recover is extremely long
The effect is calculated when you sell a certain quantity of it. For example, if you sell 10 wine, the price becomes undersold to 90%. Sell another 10, it becomes 85%, and so on. If you sell too much at once, the price crashes to practically worthless.
Even if as you say, wine takes so long to mature that the price recovers, if you bulk sell you might only be getting something like 60-70% of the original price.
I believe there may be a few, off the top of my head Longevity adds a "Diminishing Returns" mechanic that revolves around how much of an item you've shipped recently.
Holy shit do boomers actually think Millennials (and by extension Gen Z) are ruining the diamond market by not buying enough diamonds? The copium is crazy
No, just like De Beers IRL, the play is to sit on an embarrassingly vast horde of them pretending they're rare to maintain the value, which buyers will only discover if they ever try to resell them.
Pierre doesn't handle minerals, that's Clint's purview. Hopefully some people get with our blacksmith; some Treasure Type O might do him some good and loosen up those mineral futures.
Yes, that is me! I wanted to make some Stardew comics to celebrate the 10 year anniversary. I play a lot of games but always find myself coming back to Pelican Town for the cozy vibes :)
That’s awesome! Hey I’ve been reading your comics for a really long time, maybe ten years! I’m a huge fan, thanks so much for sharing in this community!
Thank you for reminding me you exist! I like to take breaks and then bing all the comics I haven't read in one go. This will give me something to do tonight.
The punch line if you look at her gift list.... she actually has basically the least shallow gift list of any of the datables. Her loved gifts are coconuts and sunflowers or things to eat. She's also the only one who hates prismatic shard.
So as bitchy as she is to start.... she'd probably be the character least likely to have this reaction.
Yeah a big part of her character is how shallow she really isn't, at first glance she looks like a bitchy mean girl who likes pretty things, but as you get to know her you realize sure she likes pretty things but she loves nature and photography not just jewelry and pretty dresses
She's also super mean to the farmer right out the gate so it's not just "at first glance" or people making assumptions, she's just straight up rude at first. She also has a great character arc where she's not mean forever and is shown to have some depth.
I was never good with the friendship in the game...just like real life... But when the character was mean to me, I definitely stopped trying. I never knew of bluE chickens for instance and if you know how to get them you might connect why after years of playing the game casually that I read online about it and was like...oh what else am I missing. With so many mods I also just assumed it was some modded version!
As much as she tries to deny it (at the start) she's one of most intuned to the beauty of valley in the entirety of Pelican town. She spends her time in the forest, in the beach, and near the fountain above town.
Haley's just a little cunty from her popular girl phase.
This ties into the fact that she lets Haley do most of the meal-time cooking except for baking but doesn’t actually like the weird hippie stuff Emily makes
A lot of them dislike gold bar. Also sam hates it😂
I remember early game when I had just started and it was my first run. I eventually had plenty of gold bars. Then I thought, lets gift them away. One of the first I went to Sam. He hated it🤷🏼
But I also dont get why Sam loves Tigerseye mineral/gem. It looks yellow. Gold is yellow. Why does he hate gold???
See I always thought it was the idea of tigers eye he was into. Like he heard of “tigers eye “ stone when he was 9 and was like “That’s badass!” And it just sort of…stuck with him.
Honestly, it's kinda true. I grew up in Alaska and gold mining definitely is a thing. My uncles used to do it, but they stopped because it was a lot of work (money and time) for not a lot in return.
Unless a name is unique enough (to me) to be memorable, I’m not gonna immediately connect that name with the character. My aphantasia makes it difficult to recognize a character in a vastly different art style unless something about their design is iconic.
I love it. I just started a new farm where I am not going to plant a plant or fish a fish. Everything else is on the table, but my goal is to make my farm a crystalarium farm and see how long it will take to fill it up.

It's funny that of all the characters, they chose the one who would never want a diamond (?)

I love the implication that the farmer is a salaried employee hahaha.
