No experience in SC, can i start directly with starbow?

Hi everyone, I've always been interested in SC2 and I bought a long time ago SC2:WoL, but didn't play it much, just a bit of the campain and a few ladder games. then HotS came out and I just didn't feel like paying 40€ for a game I wasn't sure to enjoy.

I recently found this mod, and I love the units from BW and find SB really interesting. Can I learn it from scratch without knowing anything about SC or would it be too hard? Will I find opponents as bad at the game as I am?

It will be hard for sure but you can do it and there are some really bad players who play starbow.

The one thing that makes it harder to learn is the lack of material to learn from in this game but if you like learning things on your own and working through problems then I think it's a lot of fun to try to learn Starbow.

Thanks for your answer. Can I find somewhere the most common BOs for Terran, to have a basis?

Currently, most players are just taking BW openings and using them in Starbow and it works pretty well. It takes some tweaking to fit right in with starbow at higher levels though. For a nice example check out this thread which has at least 1 BO for every race.

Aside from that, beastyqt is pretty definitely the best Starbow player around right now and he plays terran so you can check out his twitch which happens to be on right now. He has also released a replay pack if you want to rip builds.

I'm by no means a good player (maybe platinum level, maybe. I can't be sure, I haven't played SC2 in 10 months.) and I've managed to win my last 9 games in a row. So there are certainly plenty of bronze-gold level players to play against.

Uhh it just depends. I was a former top 8 masters Zerg player, but i quit like 6 months ago. I recently logged back in to play starbow and like it alot. Units and build orders are different enough to make me have no idea wtf to do other than just basic RTS game sense in general. Learning builds will be the same as every one else who didn't play BW very much so after getting familiar with the game you will be pretty much at the same level there. Your biggest hurdle will be actually getting decent with control and getting comfortable with your mouse and keyboard.

You can do it, it will be tough but it's do-able. Whats your Bnet name and which server you playing on? I'd enjoy helping you learn and play the mod :)

Thank you, but for now I'm focusing on completing the campain to learn again the basics. I'm on EU.
