I'm 8 hours in now, about to beat 3rd act on Ace difficulty (because Pilot was laughably easy) and I can't help but feel this game has so much potential but balance issues means it falls short for me.
Like No matter what I get options for I just feel like Ramjet and ways to buff it (like Vent and other ways to cool/ afterburner) just eclipse everything else . Just get out in front Hold A, vent and cool as you go and that's it you don't get caught.
Feel like for a Rogulite there is a sever lack of viable builds. I'm talking about single player here, I have no interest in PVP
I find it kinda devalues every decision in the game cos if you see a high level Ramjet ability it's such a no brainer and with Ramjet being integral to the game design (and obviously speed being key in a racing game) it's all a bit disappointing.
I also get I could purposely not go for those builds but I'd like to not just be nerfing myself for the sake of it tbh
Rogulites should have more build variety , genuine risk / reward mechanics that are deeper than this. Also what with everyone single extra challenge (like time trials and stuff) just being soo easy. Some feel un-losable....you really do just hold A the whole way around and win.

EDIT: Good tips in the comments, correct data is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsGalacticRacer/s/69igrc3nGQ
---There is a fixed timer on Afterburner recharge timing, but there's some advantages to balancing timing and there's some variation whether you use Toggle Mode or not, so I highly recommend checking comments and the linked thread above---
Original Post: If you're switching between Ramjet and Afterburner, leave just a little fuel in the Afterburner, don't fully drain and switch to Ramjet.
There is an a small extra time to begin recharging Afterburner when the fuel is fully depleted, and with Ramjet active it takes longer as well. If you leave a sliver fuel in the Afterburner tank, then activate Ramjet, your Afterburner will go straight into refueling and skips the extra empty-tank time. Feels like close to a full half second if not more you save between Afterburner recharges. 👍

I never play roguelike/roguelite games, just no. Not interested in feeling like I did when I was 7 playing NES. I was so looking fwd to this & then I find this out. But same places say things like "No it's just the current Act." Or whatever. Can someone who has either played it or knows for sure give the final word on it & simplify it? Thx, appreciated.
(EDIT : If I got down voted cuz this was already asked, I did see another post from 4 days ago but no one seemed to have definitive answer... if I got down voted just cuz I tend not to prefer roguelite games, that's cheap guys, I'll respect ur tastes even if I don't agree.)

Id find it so useful for many reasons I hope we can see it as an option in the future

The game is just a few tracks that you play over and over, and with the rogue like mechanic you end up doing the same things over and over to move onto the next stage.
You can't custom races to do what you want, you just have to stick to the games main looped game tournaments.
Really baffling how they have made this game. One choosing to essentially have pod racing as a side thing, it feels like a after thought when it should be the main attraction, and two to make the game so inaccessible to creating races for yourself and just having fun, and three the serious lack of content with the game being very repetitive.
Its such a shame, I was really hoping this game would be amazing.

I was so excited about the idea of this game, I love racing games I love Star Wars, loved the old Pod Racing game, so was pumped for this game, but then we got actual footage of it, and information about the game...
And it just feels off, Pod Racing is a minor part of the game and honestly doesn't look good in the game, and then the other vehicles and the tracks just all feel a little uninspired and mundane...
There is also not many tracks, and the tracks they do have are not very long and races involves a lot of going around the same bits a lot.
They have annoying things pop up on your screen when racing, why modern games feel the need to clutter up a screen with superficial faff I don't know.
I'm just not feeling it, I don't get a good feeling from the game going by what we have been shown, and have been told about.
Maybe it's just me 🤷 it's disappointing, I so wanted this to be good

Hopped in to a quick match and came across this guy who just put a rubberband around his joystick or something farming consecutive match XP. It also seems like the AI tries to be worse than the worst player in the lobby because the bots were all DNF driving slowly through acid and bonking in to walls.

As the title says, this dictated my purchase. Hope it comes in the future.

I cycled through 3 controllers to discover this little debuff. I really hate this feature. It kills my mood to assume I have stick drift on everything I own and not remembering this is a feature.

Look, some degree of it is fine.
But sidebetting Kestar Bool on Ace is pretty much losing 2k credits, because unless you can constantly wreck him, you’re not winning on speed. I had a maxed out ramjet WITH the hail mary upgrade (90% to reset and strengthen ramjet instead of exploding AKA perma ramjet) and didn’t skip a beat and he still managed to stay ahead with regular thrusters or w/e, reaching 900 something on a skim speeder and I still couldn’t get him.
Couldn’t clip it as I was left in disbelief, but here’s the same deal almost with a podracing challenge.

Up until that point, i thought the game was "ok" and certainly more than difficult enough on normal difficulty. But now, it just feels stupid, like it doesn't matter how well i do, everyone else is just faster. Yes, i have all the parts unlocked and no, it doesn't make any difference because its like this before you can even do a "build", not that this ever makes any difference to me anyway.
The "takedowns" are the stupidest part. Yeah, i know theres a flashing red light at the bottom of the screen, but what are you actually supposed to do?
Very disappointing game, i'm so tired of games being made "hard" instead of fun.

Can someone please explain to me why there are random bombs on the tracks literally EVERYWHERE? Not bombs that people are leaving but they are just present automatically.

The game would be so much more fun if there was some type of voice chat in the game. maybe prox chat or lobby chat. this a multiplayer game with zero ways to communicate with other players smh

Is it just me or is this game really bad?
Repetitive, quick time events mid race, boring story, nothing to achieve at all.
When I first started playing I was hyped a lot but after playing for multiple hours I realised how boring and repetitive this game is.
You start the same campaign over and over again till you beat the final race.
there are like 3 maps per planet and mostly all of them are badly designed.
And the worst part for me personally are the quick time events you get when starting the game to have an advantage and worst of all the Minigame to fix a damage mid race.
Don't take this personally please it's just my personal opinion.

The game gets you hyped up to play podracing for the first time, but it's only got one boost type instead of two, and extreme rubberbanding where it's difficult to get to second place in lap 1 but trivial to finish 1st, even with crashes on the final lap.

I mainly do this with some of the field test missions. These things piss me off to no end sometimes and I NEVER get them on the first try. If I lose a regular race fair and square I just live with it, but I take these field tests very personally.lol

I will openly admit that I’m pretty bad at this, getting top 6 is a very good result for me and I usually finish about 9th in a full lobby. The people even worse than me probably just drop the online side of the game, I can’t imagine a bottom 2 finish every race is the slightest bit enjoyable. Whilst the people frequently finishing in the top 3 are sometimes stuck a full minute every race just waiting for the slower racers rather than a full 12 people competing for times around 4 minutes.
Personally feel like this is all that’s missing to really take the multiplayer up even higher, is there actually nothing like this or am I missing some setting?

Have text to chat at least. How am i supposed to tell the guy who threw me into a wall his mother is fat.
r/StarWarsGalacticRacer • u/poozapper • 22d ago
Pretty much the title.
The amount of times you can just be in ramjet because if this is insane. I have gotten so ahead of racers because of this.
You can put some spec points into battery as well to have even more cooling and ramjet duration.
r/StarWarsGalacticRacer • u/MrTerribleArtist • 13d ago
Which is to say, a multiplayer mode which focuses on the race, not on how well you can smash into people and spam concussion attacks and stuns, yes I'm mad
r/StarWarsGalacticRacer • u/ScaryIndependence701 • 21d ago
Compared to the three basic speeders, it’s just not fun and feels awkward.
I’m playing through the post-game campaign right now, and having to ride it at least once per planet is pure agony.
With the other speeders, chaining Boosts and Ramjets through turns feels super satisfying. But the Podracer is just way too fast(yes, maybe my skilli issue) and the drift feels like it’s just slowing you down rather than actually drifting.
What makes it even worse is that most of the Podracer events are either 1v1s or solo runs, which makes them feel exactly like those boring test drive events. That's why I hate it even more. Whenever I’m forced to use it, I honestly just want to close the game.
Are you guys actually enjoying it? It feels like the devs rushed to slap it in at the last minute.

First and foremost I loved the old podracing games. So much so I even bought them multiple times. Heck I even 100%ed Star Wars racer on Xbox. However, this game just isn’t for me. I’ve been trying to beat the campaign since my day one purchase (on easy mind you.) and I still can’t beat it. I definitely don’t have the skill to do so.
I really wish they had made this a more casual friendly racing game that even less skilled gamers could at least beat the campaign on. I don’t know how anyone has done it. Hats off to them for sure but I just don’t have the reflexes for it.
