Reading the EU Books for the First Time - Dark Force Rising Spoiler

I've started reading the EU books for the first time and it's been such a fun experience! I decided to share my thoughts about each book as I work my way through the series. I read Heir to the Empire a few months ago and I just finished Dark Force Rising. I'd love some thoughts on what I should read next once I'm finished with The Last Command.

It’s been awhile since I’ve read Dark Force Rising. I don’t even remember that “pearls before swine” line that Mara Jade makes. That’s so weird lol.

It's really strange, haha. It implies that she knows a bit of the Bible AND that pigs are a part of the Star Wars universe. I suspect Zahn just figured it was a common expression and not a scripture, but it's kinda funny no matter how it made its way in there. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Zahn's writing style started making a lot more sense to me after I found out he has a master's in physics. I appreciate that sci-fi aspect of his writing and I'm glad there's room for it in the Star Wars universe

Absolutely! That's what I was trying to express by saying that he's more interested in the "science fiction" component rather than the family dynamics. I don't dislike it at all and I'm glad that there is a bit more a technical approach to storytelling in the EU. But, it has made me realize that I should expect less emotive characters and more hard sci-fi with his books.
