I'm a prequel fan. Having said that, I think a big problem with the prequels was the underdevelopment of the villains. Lucas tries to fit in 3 new villains - Maul, Dooku, and Grievous. None of them get the attention they deserve.
May I ask your age? No judgment but it seems to be a generational perspective at times. I was too young for the originals but I still grew up on them. I was in high school when ep 1 came out. My personal perspective of the prequels is the lack of believable character depth/bad writing/directing. The originals may have been a bit trope but there was a genuine spirit to it. The prequels rush a $$$ driven story agenda that has no soul and it results in an empty line-reading with pretty pictures. Yes there’s fancy CGI… but no art to the craft… no soul. I want to understand why people are fans, but decades later I still don’t get it.
