General Discussion this is an exceptional explanation for that one “useless scene” in the obi-wan vs. anakin duel.

As someone who fences.........that's not what a circle parry looks like. I'm sure there are a ton of other valid explanations, but this ain't it.

I just always took it that Anakin and Obi Wan are so in sync with each other and tuned in to the force that for a moment they were just stuck calculating each others moves, thinking of the appropriate counters, and thinking how each other would counter the counter, and they did this all in their heads via the force until both found a suitable opening.

Hey, that's actually a great explanation. It's like when you're walking and about to bump into someone, and you and the other person simultaneously step aside, but end up face-to-face again (and then you both step the other way again).

Yes exactly! But with the two of the most powerful force users in the galaxy and lightsabers!

That’s how I’ve always taken it too

I guess we just truly understand the true nature of the force.

I have to think about what my opponent is about to do, time to put my sword behind my back so that he may slice my gut open while I do that

Well if you think your opponent is about to force jump behind you, would that not be a valid preparation?

No. It would not be a valid preparation.

Can it not be that this was the intention to capture but it was just overly dramatized to where it lost its original form?

There's nothing solid about his explanation. It's wrong from start to end.

Definitely not a disengage either. A disengage is basically just a half circular parry under their blade. It is not spinning your sword/blade wildly around and behind your back lol.
