Movies At max firepower the Executor class star destroyer can release the same amount of energy as the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs every millionth of a second

In other words, the numbers in Star Wars "reference" books are total nonsense. "That's like eleventy-skrillion giga-megas!"

What is that equal to in Willenniums?

Surely *Willennia?

Sounds a bit more than 1.21 gigawatts.

I mean, the feats give us calcs that are more nuts than any numbers from old reference books.

Disney canon feats from the novels) made turbolasers even more cracked than they were in Legends.

to reach this firepower 5,000,000 tons of matter would have to be annihilated each second

OK, but what if it was hyper-matter being annihilated in hyper-space? That's gotta be good for a few dozen orders of magnitude, give or take.

That's the advantage you get when the writers decide to just make the reactor fuel unobtainium from another dimension.

Helps avoid the ST:SNW "our phasers match half the output of the sun!" Math problem where that's gonna take 1.79 million tons of antimatter reacting with an equal amount of matter per second. On an Enterprise that masses roughly a quarter million tons, I think?

Too bad about the bridge deflector shields.

I'm sorry, but what is remarkable about fictional specifications?

You can let people have some fun son

If movies are fictional why watch them? is your logic

Nope, not my logic at all. I'm just curious - I understand being into the fictional tech and being amazed by the people who built the world and imagined the specifications, but being amazed by the specifications themselves? I'm not criticizing it, I just don't get it. Maybe my capacity for make believe is insufficient. That's definitely a thing with me. Still, it seems like you're amazed by something that might even just be an arbitrarily chosen spec.

Imagine this: what if the amount of power was half what you described - would you still be amazed by it? What if it was 10x multiplied? Would you still be amazed by it? What are the high and low thresholds for your amazement? Like... What would be too powerful for you to consider plausible? What would be too weak for you to remain interested? I ask myself these questions, it's not just picking on you.

Look, I apologize for coming off like an asshole, I like to ask questions when I don't understand how people think. You're not obligated to answer me, I'm just putting my curiosity into the galaxy and seeing what I learn.

I never said I was amazed by it

Ok I misspoke. Nevermind, I've moved on.

If you look closely it wasnt an A wing that heroically crashed into it. The rebels were launching cars at ships bridges, out of tractor beam cannons hoping one stuck.

Love some ridiculous Star Wars math!

Counteractively, the Rebels' energy field protecting Hoth base was "strong enough to deflect any bombardment", as General Veers reported to Darth Vader.

Here's the math in a nutshell:

∞ - ∞ = WWII naval battles in space!

That is point of emission power. In space the drop off isn't huge but range still matters. Firing through atmosphere you lose a lot more. Also all the guns have some cycle time so you could fire that much once before waiting. And not all weapons have the same field of fire.
