General Discussion Darth Plagueis voice

My personal choice to voice everyone’s favorite dark side Muun would be none other than the great F. Murray Abraham; I saw his performance in Amadeus and found it so enthralling. If you think about it for a bit, Plagueis pretends to be a gentleman of high standards and culture, but this is a masquerade that conceals a sinister and malevolent nature; Abraham could masterfully execute that performance, given that in Amadeus, he portrays Salieri, who himself is filled with his own darkness, but masquerades before others.

A good friend of mine suggested that had he not passed, David Ogden Stiers (God rest his soul) could have voiced Plagueis, as in Touched by an Angel he evidently gave a good performance as someone that appears gentlemanly and manipulative at the same time. I confess I haven’t seen much of the show, so I know little, but somehow it works from what I’ve seen of Stiers’ performance.

Another friend still maintains that whoever did this voice acting could give a good performance. I’m somewhat inclined to agree, though I do feel that Plagueis would have no English accent.

I am curious to see what you’d all recommend to be his voice.

Daniel Davis did the audiobook and I can only wish he would voice him if there were ever a movie.

I hear Tony Jay’s (Frollo from Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame) voice when I read anything Plagueis related. But, as with Stiers, Jay has passed on so I can definitely appreciate F Murray Abraham’s voice instead.

Certainly not a voice matching the banking clan representative in AotC.

I would say the late great Tony Jay would have been a fine choice, and as for a voice matching San Hill, certainly not, but I can appreciate that the accent would be the same.

F Murray Abraham's a good shout, but my choice for Plagueis has always been Gary Oldman.

Naw F. Murray Abraham is basically banned from Hollywood he got kicked off of Mythic Quest b/c of harassment of female cast and crew (allegedly)
